    CHINABLUE- CONGRATS!!  I am about 2 1/2 weeks post Rads and really starting to see the skin calm down.  My upper chest is almost completely healed and well I had a delayed skin reaction to my skin where I had the mastectomy and am now starting to see quite an improvement there!

    You are right-- everyone is different from how bad that burn to the products we use and the amount of time it takes to heal.  The Good thing is that you are done with Rads!!!  And now it's time for the healing process.

    Congrats!  I go for my month follow-up appt tomorrow.  I wonder what they check for.  Does anyone know?

    congrats quarter405.  You have reached the finish line.  Do you know what is next, the little pill?

    weety911, I don't know what they check for.  I was a lucky one and did so well during rads and had no skin issues, that I don't have to go back for 4 months.

    So if my skin looks good and just about back to normal, can I call in the morning and cancel my appt?  I wouldn't mind going so much if it was at the facility close to my house where I've had all my chemo treatments, but the radiation facility is a 45-60 min drive from my house!  I really don't want to go if I don't really need to. . .

    I am finally finished with rads!!!!!  Today was my last treatment.  My skin is starting to heal.  I had really bad burns but the domesboro has been miraculous.  The burn underneath my arm is completely gone and new beautiful skin is there.

    Thanks for all the support I have received on this thread.

    Anita: congrats on finishing the rads. I have my last treatment (#33) tomorrow. Rads went by so quickly.

    Juanelle I was on femera same time as starting rads and was switched to Armidex due to all the bone pain the femera was giving me. I have a MRI on my liver May 7th at UNC I hope it all comes out ok. Will keep everyone updated as soon as I know more.

    Anita and MaryNY,  congrats on finishing.  Now back to life.  Hope all goes well with the healing.

    quarter405, I have been on Arimidex about 3 weeks and I haven't noticed any SEs yet.  I am keeping my fingers crossed.  Hope all goes well with the MRI on your liver.  Do keep us posted.

    Thanks Juanelle and Onty. It's a strange feeling being finished, I feel like a kid on the last day of school. I never dreaded the rad treatments, like I did the chemo. It never made me anxious, but yet having finished, I know that's another big step in this whole process. Now onto Tamoxifen. I promised the medical onc that I would start on Monday. Now this part I am a bit anxious about.

    Hello Ladies,

    I am almost 4 weeks post RADS and have been on Tamoxifen for almost 2 weeks with little S/E's so far!!  I was getting hot flashes like crazy going through TAC Chemo and about 2 months ago - hot flashes stopped-- well, SURPRISE they are back!!  

    I made a call to the Oncologist yesterday due to having a persistent dry cough that started about 1 week into RADS.  She called me in a prescription for Prednisone that I started yesterday at 40mg for 1 week and will be tappering off of for 1 month.  Even though this is short term, I was a little concerned with the S/E's of Prednisone and that it is a Steroid!  All of us that have had Chemo should know whata Steroids can do....  Gaining weight and eating everything in sight is one of them.  HOWEVER - on the bright side this will only be short term.    

    Maybe she started me on Prednisone because of the possibilitiy of getting pneumonitis from Radiation treatment?  Who knows??  

    Another Positive thing is that my skin is doing very well now-- almost completely healed, yippee!!!

    Hello all,

    Just a quick check in to say hello.  I had my 4 week after rads appt and everyone was right--the doc just checked the healing and also felt for lumps and bumps (gosh that scares me everytime!) My skin is almost completely healed and the scar line is just barely visible from the mastectomy.  I'm very surprised at how well it blends in to the regular skin now.  I guess the radiation helped with that since my skin peeled in pretty thick layers.

    weety911- I had BMX and definitely the scar line on the rt. where I received radiation is barely visible:)  I'm thinking about getting a tattoo in 1-2 years for ME! 

    Since I receiceived BMX in December 2009, I have not worn a prosthesis and find myself going out in public and being o.k. with it:)  I want to let other women know that "it's ok" if they lose their breast from breast cancer and that even though society makes us feel less of a woman without our breasts that WE ARE STILL WOMEN!  Since my diagnosis I have found myself more appreciative of the Things I DO HAVE and focusing LESS on the things I don't -- including my Breasts!

    My best to All you Strong Ladies!!  Don't Give UP and Don't Give IN!

    Dear all

    So nice to see such positive looking posts. Not sure but I think all here have completed rads? I still have some skin discoloration remaining 1 month post rads but things are improving every day. Hair, nails, mood etc are returning to my original self!

    A tip for all: "facials" on the radiated boob help a lot with scars, discoloration etc.

    Ladies, you all sound like you are doing well.  Onty,  I guess by now everyone has finished.  I certainly hope so.

    I am still doing great.  I am tan around my radiated boob, but I never did have any skin issues, not a one.  I will not go back to see my Rad Onc until  July.

    I do go back to my Med Onc next week for blood work and a visit.  She just wants to see how I am doing on the Arimidex.  So far I am doing well on it also, I have not noticed any SEs.  I have only been on it for a month, so time will tell on the SEs.

    I certainly hope everyone is enjoying their free time.  I have been working some very long hours and have not had much free time.  I am ready for a vacation.  I see one in my future.

    Hi One-L, I wish I could say I have lot of free time now. I am working 5 days a week and am trying hard to get into the groove of my old job. Heck maybe I will go for a vacation in summer too!

    I'm all done with Rads and thyroid surgery (4/12).  Surprised that I am not in much pain from the surgery. I haven't seen the incision from the surgery. The strips are still on. The surgeon took out the port! That was the first thing I felt for when I woke up. It wasn't there, I smiled and went back to sleep. I feel human not having it in there.

    Just popping in to see how everyone is doing.  It looks like we are finished and healing.   I still have some dry, peeling skin but it's concentrated over my lumpectomy scar.  In fact, my skin is doing well enough that I am wearing a pre-radiation bra today.   Yea!

    Veggy --  you sound so calm about your thyroid surgery.  I'm glad it went well.

    My rad site has healed quite well. I have just a very slight tan line noticeable now. The port site has also healed some although it has some ways to go. I can feel some scar tissue below the skin.

    My scars are healing nicely. Still just a little pain where the port was. I still get tired out quickly. Trying to get some long needed housework done today. Can't believe how dirty it is. I'll feel happier knowing I did it!

    I am doing great.  I am still sore and bruised around the port site and it has been almost 2 months since it was removed.  It just seems like it would already be healed by now.  Oh well, I can't complain, I did not have one skin issue during rads.

    Good to hear from you one-l. My port site is still bruised too. My skin issues on the treated breast have almost completely healed. You have to be real close to see the tan line now.

    Hi all, I'm healing quite nicely as well.  The tan lines are just slightly visible, but not noticeable unless you look carefully.  For me, the weirdest thing is that the peeling took off all of my moles!  I guess I thought the moles were deeper, but I guess they are pretty superficial.  They just all peeled off with the rest of the skin.  Weird.
