MUST Read!! MD Anderson & Kanzius Research!!
Has anyone seen this information yet!!!???
This could be "IT"... THE cure!
MD Anderson is doing research on this NOW. NON invasive, no chemo, no surgery and 100% of the cancer cells.. GONE
There is a pepsi-fund raiser type of a deal going on right now and you can vote on the website below to help win $250,000 to support ongoing research and clinical trials and to engage 100,000 new donors for cancer research!!!
On the pepsi website it states that "In 2010, upon receiving approval from the FDA to build a larger, human-sized device, pre-clinical testing will begin. The Zanzius Cancer Research Foundation's goal is to begin Phase 1 Human Clinical Trials by 2012.
This is AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is our future! Our children's future!
Please please please read up on it and go to the link below to vote!

I saw this on another forum and I voted :> I don't think the idea is far-fetched. I am treated with herceptin and tykerb which are targeted therapies. I am thinking about getting radiation on my last lung nodule and they may implant gold seeds to direct the radiation. Those together seem to make sense to me! Thanks!

Actually, radiofrequency ablation is already being used on tumors, and has been used for several years. And, as chainsawz noted, targeted therapies are becoming more and more common as tumor-specific antigens and growth-related markers are identified.
IMHO, the key to a successful cancer treatment will not be finding a new way to kill tumor cells. The key will be finding a way to kill only the tumor cells, and not normal cells. That can't be accomplished with radio frequency generators or carbon nanotubes or gold particles.
If you actually read the papers written about the "Kanzius" technique, they all point out the same weakness. This technique won't be any better than any of the other cancer treatment strategies unless someone figures out a way to put the radiofrequency-activated "metal" in or on cancer cells, but avoid having it deposited anywhere else.
Even the animals used in the studies that have already been published on Kanzius's approach had organ damage because of "leakage" of the target metals into surrounding (healthy) tissue.
This approach is a LONG way from being a "cure".

Thanks for the clarification Otter. I also was wondering about the "metal" going else where in the body.
-
..and that's what MD Anderson is working on. Coming up with an antibody that will attract the metals in the nano-particles to the cancer cells.
It's similar to the antibody to HER2 (targeted therapy right?)
Somebody obviously thinks this is worth studying though. They are still working on it and are still investing money into it. Look at all the advances that have been made in the past 10 years.. again with "targeted therapy". Soooo similar.
I'm not a scientist so I can't tell you where or when but these guys that are working on it are pretty excited about it and if you watch the 60 minutes program you'll see just that. That's enough for me to invest some "hope" in
