Hi,

I went for my regular feely check up and the doctor said he thought he felt something,  I went for my annual mammy and an US, nothing showed up.  I went to my breast surgeon, he said he didn't really feel anything to worry about, and I should come back in 3 months.  In the meantime, that breast (opposite breast of where my cancer was) is hurting me around the area where the original doctor found the lump,  I'm not sure what this means or what I should do now, suggestions are welcome.

Shelley - is the doctor that thought he/she felt something a GP?  How long after that did you start feeling pain?  I have not experienced this exact scenario, but would be somewhat relieved that my breast surgeon did not feel anything and the mammogram and ultrasound both checked out as clear.

If the pain started more than a month after the mammogram/ultrasound I would feel best seeing my oncologist and try to get an MRI.

Sending you prayers and positive thoughts that this resolves!

Hi Shelley, your breast may be hurting from being examined. This may last a few days or so. I sometimes used to feel a pulsating pain after self examination. Give your breast some time to get back to normal.
Also, if mammogram and US did not show anything, a three month wait seems reasonable.

    Best,

    Jenna

    Hi,

Actually I felt the pain even when the first doctor examined me, exactly where he felt the lump, i told him that it was painful.  It has been hurting for at least a couple of months now, not a shooting pain, a dull pain that seems to be there all the time.

Shelley, did you also have an ultra-sound?...Have you noticed an identation at that area?....We have to push sometimes so if your gut tells you to have more tests then I would ask for them...goood luck...

I did an US, they said it didn't show anything.

    I haven't noticed any dimpling.

I have an appointment at the end of May with the Oncologist, I think I will wait and ask her what she suggests,

    Thanks for your replies

Many times scar tissue can be painful, I would go back for second US with different Doc, either OB GYN or Breast radiologist!

It can't be scar tissue, as it is on the opposite breast.  I have also been feeling something odd on the same breast though.  It was a fluke that I found out I had cancer, and thank God of course.  I felt a lump in my underarm, because of that I went to have an US and mammi.  Turns out the lump was nothing, but while examining me, they found I had cancer in that breast.  Anyway, I'm feeling a lump again in the armpit, not sure what that is all about.  I will ask the Oncologist about an MRI.

Thanks for all your answers and support.
