Francine...sounds great!
What is up Friday night after dinner?
What time are you doing The Met, Ferry, and Carriage rides?
My sister's name is Cindy!
Thanks again for all your planning!!
Chris
-
Francine - yes she plays for a state school in PA called Indiana University of PA (IUP). They are NCAA Div. II. She was ranked 5th last year for a stat called Draw Control, and this year she is at #10 as of last week. We are really proud of her, and most importantly she is doing really well with her grades.
-
Patti...That's great about your daughter. You must be so proud. Any news on NYC yet.
Chris..Tomorrow I will post all the details etc. When do you think you will be arriving Friday..Then I can better judge the evening plans.
I told my Gilda's Club group today that my BCO friends were coming to NYC this weekend.
Weather is still a little up in the air for this weekend but more reports at this time seem good.
Hugs,
Francine
-
If we leave after work, we wouldn't be there till 8:00....so...I think we are both going to be ill in the afternoon and need a 1/2 day off!!! We could then be there around 4:00...much better!
I really can't wait!! We love NYC...carriage rides are great!
Chris

Francine, I have not heard from Michelle yet and have private messaged her on FB tonight. She seems to be on facebook more than BC.org. Hoping to hear from her tomorrow then I will know if I need to make other plans or not. I checked weather.com and it does seem it will be cooler with possible showers, hoping it holds off until after the weekend.
-
Chris: Great plan for Friday....cough cough...lol
Patti: I just received an e-mail from Michelle confirming that she is coming on Friday with you so I'm sure you'll hear from her soon. That's great about your daughter. You must be beaming!
The weather....what will be will be. If it rains...I guess they sell lots of umbrellas on every street corner. I am just so darn excited to meet everyone...share a few laughs and explore the great NYC!
Gotta squeeze in a bit of time for Tiffany's. I bought my DIL a Tiffany's charm bracelet for a personal gift just before their wedding two years ago. She will be graduating from University next month with her nursing degree so I want to get her the Class of 2010 Tiffany's charm. I can get it here but I really want it to buy it in NYC.
3 more sleeps for me and Beth R. 4 for all the others. Yippee!
-
Three more sleeps now...and I am sure the last one will involve little sleep!
I purchased tickets for Mamma Mia for Sunday at 2:00. Looking forward to a some good music and a few laughs before I leave the big city.
Can you feel me excitement!!!!!
-
Beth - thanks for the heads up. I need to put in for time off on Friday, depending on what time Michelle wants to leave. I can be spontaneous, but when it affects others, I get a little nervous.
-
Hi Ladies,
Only two or three more days( sleeps) till me all meet..
Chris..You will enjoy Mamma Mia. Sunday afternoon is a great time. Theatre is near the brunch place as well as the hotel.
Patti. Please do let me know as soon as possible as to when you will arrive. Don't be nervous we can work around your arrival time.
Here is the busy itinerary for this weekend.
Thurs evening.... Beth, Beth,Tanasha and I will meet for dinner at about 7:30 at John's Pizzeria.
Friday. Beth, Beth and I will meet in Grand Central Station and then walk to UN and take the tour . At 12:30 Tanasha will meet us for lunch and we will walk back or maybe take a bus or taxi back to Fifth Avemue. We will briefly stop at the library and then proceed to Lord and Taylor for some retail therapy. Then back to the hotel where we will meet up with Chris and her sister, Diane, Patti and Michelle. Dinner should be about 6 at Dallas BBQ on 42cd street and eighth.
Question...After dinner we could go to a Comedy club or to an Off Broadway play named Defending the Caveman..I can get 24 dollar discount tickets for all. Or we can go to an 8 oclock show at Chicago City Limits..15 dollars entrance plus two drinks cover. The only advantage to the play is that the theatre is located in the same building as the hotel. The Comedy club could also be visited at 10 or Saturday if you choose to do both. I would need to know by Thursday how many tickets to buy for the show?
Prior to Saturday we all need to purchase a one day pass for the subway and buses. I believe it costs about 8 dollars and 25 cents. One gets it from a machine in any subway station.. but the largest bill the machine excepts is a 10 dollar one. It does take exact change also. This card will help us get around on Saturday.
Saturday..We will meet at about 9:45 at the Met..82cd and Fifth. One can either go by public transit or get together and share a cab. I will try to get some free tickets for you. The cost otherwise is about 20 dollars each.. From there we will take a bus down Fifth Avenue to 59th street. There we will take our carriage ride through Central Park- This costs 34 dollars for the carriage load. We will share this expense too. Then we will eat some street food..and walk down Fifth Avenue for a while. We will stop at TIFFANY's and wherever else you want.... maybe Trump Tower.
Then back up to 59 street to take a subway to South Street for our ferry ride. We will pass by the Statue of Liberty , Ellis Island and see lower Manhattan . From there we will go to Century 21 for a little shopping. Then back to the subway for the ride uptown to 34 street. Here we will stop at Macy's and see the Flower Show. ( a little more shopping would not hurt) .If time permits we will then walk to the Empire State building and go up to the 86th floor. Finally back to our hotels in time for a 8 PM dinner reservation at Carmines.
Sunday. I found a nice inexpensive brunch restaurant very near our hotel. It is Mediterranean food but the brunch is a buffet and they have hot food. salmon, pasta, meat balls and desserts and many Mediterranean salads. I do believe all will be pleased. The price is 17.95 including juice and coffee. How do you feel about this? Oh yes we can also have a round table in a private area. I think this will be a nice way to end the weekend. I believe the brunch begins at 11 AM. Prior to brunch you can walk over the Rockefeller Center and then fifth Avenue to St.Patricks Cathedral for mass or just to see the church.
I will send all the websites of various places I have mentioned via email. Please do email me back about the theater.
What do think?
Hugs,
Francine

You all have a wonderful time in NY. It is a great place to explore. Wish I could have come, but not to be right now. I got my port out today!!!. A sure sign that things are finishing up. Have a pulmonary doc visit on Thursday to make sure nodules on lungs have not changed. A check up with rad doc in May and an appointment with onc in June.. Only 1 appt per month instead of every day or every week. Can You believe it. I have had trouble with the 2nd AI I have tried. Now we are switching to tamoxifin as soon as the headaches caused by the aromasin wear off. I have a reaction to the binders in some medicines and both the aromasin and armidex have this binder. Femara does not but I had alot of joint pain with it to where I was having trouble walking, using computer etc. The pharmasist helped me find a brand of tamoxifin the did not use that binder. (providone or crosprovidone) . Since tamoxifin is now generic there where several companies that make it. Even some of the tylenol has this binder. If I don't take something for more than 2 weeks I can usually get by without the headaches not matter what the binder, but if it is something I am going to be taking long term I wil start getting continuous headaches if I don't pay attention to what is in the meds. This was first time I have be able to narrow down what particular binder was in all the meds I have had reactions too. Hopefully the tamoxifin works OK.Otherwise we try femara again now that I am off the herceptin. If none of these work I will just have to take my chances on it coming back. Even without the pills chances are still only about 12% which seem to be pretty good odds.
HAVE A WONDERFUL TIME THIS WEEKEND!!!!! Annette
-
Annette: Glad to hear that your appointments are farther and farther apart....nearing the end of the road with it all is nice. Interesting about the binders in meds. I didn't know that. Good luck with Tamoxifen. I have been on it since July and all is well. No big problems so I wish the same for you. Sorry we will miss you in NYC but I know all the March Warrior Princesses will be there in spirit and we will have a special toast to each and everyone.
Francine: The itinerary is fantastic. Thank you.
Two more sleeps for Beth R, Tanasha, Francine and I. Only 3 more for everyone else! I really can't believe that it is here already....wish chemo had of gone that fast...lol
Cheers for a good night
Hugs

Annette: glad to hear you got the port removed. It is a sign that things are moving along well.
I had joint pain with Arimidex so I was switched to Aromasin. Can't say the joint pain is any better, but I tolerate it. Hopefully you find one that will work for you. We will miss you in NYC....maybe next time we can get an even bigger group together...I'm thinking Hawaii, Caribbean, etc!!!
Take care!
Chris

Chris...ha ha ...I love it. You are already planning the next trip...count me in!
-
Me too Chris.
Hugs,
Francine

Hi Francine: I emailed both you and Michelle, since she is the driver and I'm not sure if she needs to stop in NJ first. I know we are meeting in SJ at 2:30 and should, hopefully, arrive early evening, depending on traffic. Your itinerary sounds wonderful. Again, thanks for all the planning that you have done, as well as Beth.
-
Just did mapquest it is estimate at 1Hr 37 Minutes to the hotel. The would have us arriving at
around 4:00 if we come straight to the hotel. Thanks again for all your planning efforts.
-
Oh, I am up for whatever the group decides, I haven't done any of these things in a long time or ever. So it will all be knew to me. Last time in NY I was 19 and went with some college friends. We stayed at the Y because it was cheap, saw the Empire State Bldg. Twin Towers were pretty new then. Went to a cool bar - don't remember the name. That's about all I remember of the trip. Went with DD when she was in 5th grade with her band music group to see Zuessical when it 1st opened (no Rosie yet). We were bussed and stayed in the vicinity went to the MTV store and another place along that line. So again, I'm up for anything it will all be new and fun. What type of dress for the sightseeing do you think. Is everyone wearing nice shoes, or broken in sneakers. Thanks
-
It is jeans and sneaks for me!!
-
Hi ,
One more sleep for some two for others ..I just can't believe it.
I too agree that casual is fine. I do know that those of us going Friday to the UN should not wear jeans. Nice jeans should be fine on Frriday evening, Saturday and Sunday.
Ladies..The dinner Friday will be at 5:30 as many are now coming earlier. Should be easier to get into the restaurant. We will meet in the lobby of the Edison at 5:30 and go together.
Patti..you will have fun.The city has changed a lot for the better.
Weather on Saturday will be in the high fifties. Not 90 like today. I guess a spring type jacket or leather jacket will be fine.
The show on Friday evening is listed on the website at 50 dollars . I can get the tickets for 25.dollars I will email all.
Well soon all the Princesses will meet. How great is that.
Hugs,
Francine

Hi everyone!
Thank you for all of your kind words, and the thoughts and prayers you have been sending my way for my father. It was very hard to lose him, and I was with him all night, right up until he took his last breath. I am glad he is no longer suffering, but I will miss him terribly as we were super close.
I hope everyone has a GREAT time in NY! I also hope we will plan something again, as I would love a chance to meet all of you.
So have fun, let your hair down (ha! Now that it is rapidly growing back in) and paint the town red. We all look forward to hearing about how it went and seeing lots of PICTURES! Here's to safe and happy travels.
-
Have fun girls on your trip and take LOTS of pictures to post on here!!!
-
Thanks Christy and Janine for both your good wishes.
Hugs,
Francine
-
I had fun then I'm sure we'll all have a blast getting to know each other face to face instead of picture to pictur, as well as being in the city that never sleeps with so much to do. Jeans & Sneaks for me then too, especially good since I have planter faciatious (sp) and hell spur problems all taken care of with inserts.
-
Hi Gals. Just popping in to say hi...Remember me.....I think of you all so often. It sure sounds like your going to have a fun time. You all look terrific. I do have some hair now. I need to get a new pic of me. I am done with TX I have been on the arimidex for about 4 months. Take care of each other. Love Buddy
-
BUDDY....so glad to hear from you. I hope all is going well at your end. Post a new pic...I need a new one too!
Keep in touch and take care,
Chris
-
So nice to see evryone popping by with warm wishes for our trip.
Buddy: Of course we remember you! So nice to hear from you. Glad to hear that you are all done tx. How is the arimdex treating you? I have been on Tamoxifen since July and so far so good. Hot flashes, joint aches.... blah blah blah...but overall it has certainly been tolerable. I think it would be wonderful for you to post a new pic. Take Care and please stay in touch.
Janine: It must have been so difficult and yet so touching to be with you Dad until the end. I have thought of you often and send warm wishes and hugs your way. We will meet on the next trip...Chris is already planning it...lol.
Christy: We will miss you too and I have my camera packed so we'll post some pics. Hope you are doing well. Are you fully recovered from your surgery?
And to the NYC group...I will see some of you tomorrow and the rest on Friday! Yippee!

Hi,
Buddy..yes I too remember you and do love your photo..great original one. But you could use an update.
Janine- Yes you will always keep your dad in your beloved memories. Here's too our next trip. LOL We haven't even had this fun.
I am so thrilled that today has finally come. I just can't wait to meet all of my BCO friends. We certainly have had a very strong and empathetic connection to all. As Janine said so well, let's have a great time and let our hair down. How nice to have it. .
To all the NYC ladies I have a Surprise for all when you come.... that includes..Cindy-Chris' sister and Ann Marie... Diane's daughter.
I am sure we will all post photos after the weekend.
I have so much enjoyed planning this weekend.
See you all so soon.
Hugs,
Francine

I AM JUST SOOOO EXCITED!!!!!
-
Okay, I've read most everything! Francine, what a wonderful job you did planning! As you know, money's tight for me, so I wanted to see the whole itinerary before deciding on the show. I think I can swing it, though, and I've always wanted to see it (he was on Oprah MANY years ago and I laughed for days after seeing him).
How funny that we have an 8 pm reservation at Carmine's on Saturday, when my sister Lori (the one I'm staying with) has a 9 pm reservation at Carmine's for her bachelorette party! I'd rather eat with you guys (I was supposed to go with them, honestly), but you'll most likely get to meet her. Her wedding is on the 25th.
Chris, I'm so relieved you're okay. One benefit to not reading often enough is that I only had to worry for a few minutes. Janine, I posted on fb, but I want to reiterate how sorry I am for your loss.
I hope to get back to NYC by 2 pm on Saturday, but I honestly have no idea how the timing will work. I don't know at all what the job fair will be like, or what to expect. Wish me luck, though, because this is like my last hope. I have the list of phone numbers, so I'll just figure out where to catch up with you.
Patti, don't worry about the timing. We'll find everyone by the right time. Beth, you must already be in NYC! Yay!
Michelle
-
Huh, was that clear about Carmine's? I am eating with you girls, not my sister and her friends. They know and understand. My sister thinks the coincidence is funny!
