Chemo Summary Meeting Tomorrow
Hi ladies,
Just a little nervous tonight as I meet with my onc tomorrow to go over my chemo summary and long term treatment plan. I haven't met with this doctor yet as my original doc transferred to a local University. I've heard this doc, although excellent, does not have the reasurring demeanor my old one did. She's a tell it like it is type of doc. And what worries me is that she is going to tell me something I don't want to hear. I know I am projecting but this is all so crazy!!! I look back at pics of me last August while on vacation and see such a happy person. All the while with this "alien" growing in me.
Anyhow, thanks for listening. I'll let you know how the appointment goes.
Take care,
Sharon

Sharon - hope it goes well! I am seeing my Onc this morning too, so I will be thinking of you while I am waiting for her.
Wishing you only good news, and a great appointment!

Most docs will only share information on an as needed or asked basis. I am very careful of what I ask my doc since I wont be able to "unhear" some things
I am familar enough with stats that I dont need to ask my doc that and I have my husband and family to try to cheerlead for me - my doc is just my doc and with her I discuss treatment plans and nothing else :-)

my husband always tells the docs b-4 we meet to be careful what they say. I didn't know he was doing this until I caught him to tell my rads doc:) Anyway it works for me:)
Let us know how it goes! Sending good thoughts your way.

Sharon, I hope your meeting with the new onc goes well. My onc, I was told before I met him, that "he's excellent", teaches seminars and gives talks everywhere in the cancer circles, but has not bedside manner" Well, to me, that's ok as long as he's keeping this BC Bitch at bay. Sometimes he gets on my nerves because he doesn't tell me more than I really ask him. and then if I ask too much, he says UH OH, Your worrying too much. Don't worry. Let me do the worrying about your treatment

Your in my thoughts, I hope your meeting goes well and you like your new onc.

This is probably too late, but when I went into my first meeting with my onc I had already figured out I was Stage III and they offered a longer appt - probably thought I would be a basket case and the the onc is known for being emphatic. Anyway, I went into the appt. saying I did not want to discuss the path report and I knew it was very serious but just wanted to focus on treatment.
You can set the parameters for how much or what type of information you want to receive.

Hey girls,
Thanks for the words of support. All went well yesterday, actually it was pretty uneventful. I like her well enough although she talks a mile a minute. Got my summary on paper so if I need to fill in a doc I just hand them that. She did confirm I'll be starting on Tamoxifen after rads. Any of you have trouble with that?? I'll check the files section to see what's up there.
Hope you are all well today!

Sharon,
Your dx is similar to mine. I was just diagnosed a few weeks ago, haven't even scheduled surgery yet. I hope you are tolerating the chemo OK.
