Radiation after Mastectomy
I am 28 year old and i was diagnosed with IDC last month. I got my mastectomy done last week because the tumour was more than 2 cm and there were some calcifications found in breast. I am suppose to start my chemo in 2-3 weeks. My lump was in right breast and it seemed to be close to chest wall from imaging results but during surgery dr. found it clear and my nodes also are clear so its 0 node involvement so we were expecting no radiation wud be required but the pathology reports after surgery show that my breast tissue had four tumors in it including that lump so my oncologist may suggest a radiation too after chemo. I really wished to avoid this radiation thing after ACx4 and THx4 round of chemo but........ anyone can help or suggest.
Has anyone gone through radiation even after mastectomy. Please help.

ALLISWELL.. I had a BMX in Dec and will have my last chemo this Thursday. My path report showed clear margins, but my onco still thinks radiation is needed. So, I'll be starting soon. I was bummed at first, but now I'm getting used to the idea. Anything to keep from going through this again!
I've already had my fills, so my TE are all set. The PS says I can't have the replacement surgery for at least 6 months after chemo. I hate that!
I know there are lots of women on here who've had radiation after mastectomy without complications. Hopefully, some of them will post and answer any questions you have.

I was diagnosed at 30.
Had clear margins and no nodes. Yes...my tumor was ALOT bigger than yours, but my onc said even if it was 1/4 of its size he would recommend rads.
We are young. Are cancers are known to be more agressive. We have to do everything and anything, when we can do it.
I can sleep better knowing Ive done everything. I have left no could have's/should have's.
If you do decide NOT to do the rads, you can not do them 6 months or so later. The next time would be a recurrence (god for bid). Why would you wait for that to happen? Why would you want to? And....how can you gurantee if you were to get a recurrence in the breast that it hasn't gone elseware too at the same time?
Radiation is very doable. Very. Most woman do fine.
I have seen a lot of stories around various BC boards where a younger woman opted out of rads or their doc(s) have not recommended....and it has returned. Some just locally...others not so lucky.
Edit: Are you Er+ or -? If you are negative you should really do rads.

Thanks lexislove
Is your treatment over? Which chemo treatment did you go through? How did you do with chemo and rad? It would be helpful.
