Makeup, Face Cream- need your input

Options

Hi ladies,

In my quest for all natural, non estrogenic products, I am asking for face creams and makeup you are using that you are satisfied with.   I have just switched my foundation to Physicians Formula which doesn't really provide the coverage I need, and my face cream to Dr. Hauschka. I am experimenting to find what will work, and it's getting expensive. I've returned numerous products after I've come home with them, because I will purchase, and then I end up researching the net only to find that one of the ingredients is estrogenic. I have looked at the Environmental database, but need someone who has tried some products to give their thoughts and recommendations. Thanks in advance for your recommendations!

I started using EVANHEALY skin care products about 3 months ago and absolutely LOVE them. No GMOs,parabens, petroleum-based products, synthetic fragrances or animal testing!  Most of the ingredients are certified organic.  You can buy online (I think even Amazon carries some of the products).  I buy mine at Whole Foods.  I started with a starter kit (contains several trial size products).  I particularly like the Rose products.  The starter kit says it contains enough products for 7 - 10 days.....mine lasted about 6 weeks!  Google evanhealy to find the website and go to Amazon to read reviews.

As for makeup, I switched over to mineral powder makeup, but found it a little drying.  So now I added  Physicians Formula Organic Wear tinted moisturizer and then I put the mineral powder on top of it.  Seems to be working pretty good in combination.

BTW....here's my deodorant concoction:  I let my 3/4 full jar of coconut oil set in the sun until it became almost liquid.  I then added Red Mill aluminum-free baking soda and stirred, added more baking soda and stirred until the jar was full.  Now I slather that under my arms and it seems to be keeping me odor-free!

I switched to Bare Mineral makeup. I have a great eye coverup from Afterglow Cosmetics dot com. Love it - it is a cream. I will eventually try their mineral makeup - it is organic where bare minerals is not.

I don't know whether my favorite natural products are estrogenic or not. I'm still looking for a good shampoo that's natural, inexpensive and lathers well.

    Here's some that I use:

kiss my face olive oil bar soap (face and body)

    hugo naturals lotion

aubrey organics B5 gel (for hair)

aubrey organics calendula blossom natural deodorant spray

    jojoba oil

apricot kernal oil (I use this and the hugo lotion on my face 2x a day, get lots of compliments on my skin)

    witch hazel

I use the bare minerals makeups.

    Hi Marianna,

I use a mineral foundation makeup from a company called La Bella Donna.  It's kind of pricey, but it lasts forever as a little goes a long way.  I use Dr Hauschka rouge, and Zuzu eyemakeup.

For moisturizer, I honestly just use organic extra virgin coconut oil. Works great and it is inexpensive. (I also use the coconut oil just straight up as a deoderant and it works better than anything else I've tried - plus I smell nice and coconutty for a little while!)

For cleanser, I just use Dr. Bronners.

I've been using Alaffia shea butter shampoos and conditioners, but would be curious to know what others use.

I have been buying most of my cosmetics, including moisturizers, from ORIGINS - there are several stores in the US, in Canada you can only get ORIGINS at The Bay in select stores(usually the large ones in downtown large urban cities.)  All natural, mostly organic, paraben free.  They have a great natural deodorant as well.  Also a website - www.origins.com

I use Bare Minerals too, and for moisturizer, nothing beats straight ole olive oil. Just be very sparing when you put it on your face so you don't clog pores. It works all over and is so much cheaper than anything else out there. I hope you find something that works for you!

Forgive me, but the two of you who are using coconut oil for deodorant, doesn't the oil aspect of it ruin your clothing?

I'm using Tom's lavender. I tried to use Tom's unscented but it didn't work.

I use some of the Kiss My Face products. I also LOVE Vitamin E oil and have used it VERY sparingly on my face. I don't know if I can put this on here, but I buy many of my products from www.etsy.com where several of the makers produce only organic and/or vegan or natural ingredients. My absolute favorite body scub is this http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=39172386 It's so yummy I want to eat it.
    Good luck! -catherine

    Dear ladies,

Just a rule of thumb...as my daughter says..."If you can't eat or drink it, don't put it on your body".

    Hi Cary,

No, the coconut oil doesn't cause any problems for clothing. It's surprising how quickly it gets absorbed into the skin, and it doesn't stay greasy. I always put it on about five minutes before actually getting dressed, which seems to be plenty of time for it to fully absorb.

I agree, Nan! Our skin is our largest organ, and anything we put on it goes through our whole body.

Marianna, there is a great website...goodguide.com that gives you the info of best and worst dangerous ingredients of many many products..foods-makeup-lotions-shampoos......you name it, they rate them on satety, even include the cancer rating of product...I have changed everything that I put on and in my body....After lots of research on many products, I started using L'oreal Bare Naturale soft-focus mineral translucent powder (has a very high (good) rating healthwise), also comes in a pretty pinched pink blush....These are very reasonable with a good amount in them...I found mine at Walgreens for buy one get one half off....I love them both.....Sometimes if going out special, I put on a base make-up of Almay Pure Blends 97.4% natural, this goes so easy and light over my natural face moisturizer....then I use the L'oreals to finish...hope this helps...
