My mother went througha lumpectomy in 7/2009 and then did 4 rounds of chemo along with radiation. When they did the surgery the doc said he got a clean margins which mean GREAT news it didn't spread. Around 2 months after her surgery she felt another lump around the same size  right at the location of her incision. They did a Mammogram and ultrasound last week and said they seemed to think it ws a sak with fluid in it and some particals. Well she ewnt in today for her Biopsy because they wanted to biopsy the partical inside the sak and also try to drain the fluid. PROBLEM, they could only get a small amount of fluid out and the lumpis still there. She goes next monday to find out exatly what it is because the doctor today told her he had no clue what it was besides a lump. If anyone has experienced or knows someone who hsa experienced this any advice you have would be helpful. I am 25 yrs old and have her 2 ONLY grandchildren and scared to death....Thanks! Amanda

Amanda, I don't really have any advice but didn't want your post to go unanswered.  When you say, "She goes next Monday to find out exactly what it is" -- do you mean they plan to do an excisional biopsy?  I would think that's probably the best thing to do -- or a core biopsy if the one today was a fine needle aspiration.  No one can say without a biopsy what this is.  I know the waiting and wondering is the hardest thing, but I'm sending my hopes for benign results.

    Hugs,

    Ann

Thanks so much Ann, they did the needle biopsy of the core and that what we are getting results on Monday for....I just hate playing the "waiting" game. You think your done with everything and them BAM right back in your face......Thanks for your thoughts and prayers!

Amanda - I'm so sorry your mom is going through all of this. You are a wonderful daughter playing such an active role in her care. While I have no advice to add (Ann is spot on) I just want to wish you the best and hope the results are B9. The waiting IS very hard.

Amanda ~ I just came across this thread, so went back and read your other posts.  It looks like your Mother has triple negative bc, which can be very aggressive and is known to recur in the original site.  Hopefully, a recurrence is not what your Mother is dealing with, but if her biopsy does come back positive, I would strongly suggest that you find an oncologist with specific expertise in treating triple negative bc.   A local recurrence can be treated successfully, but you need to be sure you're dealing with doctors who are very experienced in treating it, as it's not the most common form of bc.  There's also a forum here specifically for triple negative bc.

Praying that this will just be a scare and her results will be benign.  Please keep us posted.   (((Hugs))) to you for being such a supportive daughter.    Deanna
