Snuziq, I am so sorry that you are going through such a crappy thing right now...I hope you are doing ok. Or, ok as you can be. We are here if you need to vent or cry, or whatever...We are your bosom buddies.
Suz, good to see you back again...and doing so well. I'm getting close to being done as well...can't wait.
Happy St. Patricks Day to all my friends
-
Snuziq: Hugs to you; really sorry you have to go through this after/while treatments... Is there anything else we do not need?
Suz : Good to read you are almost done. Congrats!
On my side, no post surgery chemo for me as the path report is clear. I met my onc. yesterday and we agreed that the next step is rads, now waiting for the hospital's call for an appointment. I have fair skin.... afraid of the burning thing but, hey!, my ordeal is not over yet...
Congrats to everyone finishing treatment.
Hope and courage to everyone still in there.

Suzi: I'm so sorry to hear what you have to go through. And to have to deal with moving too just as you are feeling tired. Do you have family to help you through this?
Suz: Your last rad today! You must be feeling pleased with yourself. My hair is coming in slowly too. Looking forward to the day when I can forgo the wig.
-
Hi everyone...
glad to see that those of you doing radiation are doing well........just think, only a few more weeks, and we've been at this for months! I am waiting for the pathology results from my node dissection. Then I'm sure my doctor will refer me to radiology. No point in hurrying it, I need to recover from the surgery. For the SECOND time I'm learning to raise my arm above my head.......owwwww!
Suzi...really sorry your husband chose such wonderful timing to show his a$$. I know its upsetting, but that has to prove that no matter what you'll be better off without him because you certainly deserve better.
Much love to everyone!
-
Snuzq ~ so sorry about your divorce.
All you are going through and then to have to face this. (((HUGS)))
Suz~ sorry about your burns I hope it heals up quickly. I hear going shirtless and letting the area air out works wonders.
Happy St. Patty's DAY !
-
Well, the day has finally come- Just finished my last chemo!.. I am DUN- done! It feels so good to be able to say that!! Mary, can I PLEASE have my last smiley face?
Snuzq- so sorry to hear about your divorce. I know my DH doesn't always understand but he has been there for me every step of the way. I know how lucky I am. I just wish your soon to be ex didn't feel the need to show what an ass he is just when you need him most. We're all here to help you through this in any way we can, I know it's the last thing you need to bee dealing with right now but hopefully it will open a brand new chapter in your life and you can find someone who really loves you the way you deserve to be loved.
I hope everyone is doing well. Thanks for all of your support on this long, long journey,
Dee

SnuQ So sorry that you have so much to go through. Hang in there and know we are sending you hugs and good vibes.
Dee Congrats on your last chemo!
Suz You must be so happy that rads are done!
I started rads this week. So far so good. 3 sessions down, 30 to go. Looking forward to having them done. Running from work daily and rushing to get there is a little stressful, but hopefully by next week it will be part of my routine. The hospital where I get rads is close, so I am thankful for that. Have been back to work fulltime teaching and it can be exhausting, but do have more energy each day. I hope the rads doesn't make me too fatigued. I am looking forward to my spring break at the end of the month.

Doin a happy dance Dee!

CAtharsis, I am not sure that fair skin has anything to do with the blistering and burning. I have very fair skin, don't tan or anything and I did great during radiation. I never burned or blistered. I am not really large breasted, so I didn't break out from skin on skin either. I wore men's cotton t-shirts all the time and only used the cream that the doctor gave me (Remedy). My breast did turn red and was sore on the inside, if I bumped it or anything it hurt, but not bad. I had 33 treatments, 27 reg, 7 boosts. I also sleep on the side that was radiated and continued to do so and it didn't seem to bother me. I also had a mammo during the middle of my rads and that didn't hurt it either. I did not experience any fatigue, but maybe I did go to bed earlier some days. But I do get up at 4:30 4 days a week to go to work. I traveled 150 miles each day to work, rad and then home, so I had every right to be fatigued. I don't know why I did so well, I am just glad that I did. I hope you do as well as I did.
Congrats to Dee for crossing the finish line.
jojo, good to hear that you are out there enjoying life. You deserve the very best.
I realized today that I finished chemo 3 months ago. I can't believe how fast the time has gone by. I guess rads kept it moving along at a fast pace. I am just about over all the SES that were left over from chemo. My hair is growing back and it is about 3/4 inch long now. Wont be long until I will ditch the wigs and scarves.
Ladies, you will reach the end of tx soon. Each day is a blessing and you will know you did everything you could to slay the dragon. I have been very fortunate (if you can call having BC fortunate) not to have had lots of problems during my treatment. Not saying that it was easy, but came through with no lasting problems. I wish everyone the best and there is light at the end of the tunnel.

HI LADIES
Had my first rads session today it all went well enough but i burst into tears when i got to my car it was all to much for me mentally going back to the same building as i was in when doing chemo and having 6 weeks free from T/X that got me in cancer free mode then hello back to reality yuck yuck yuck but nothing like a Thai lunch and a chocolate didnt fix lol and she told me no sun-baking either but swimming in the salt water is good well that just pissed me of just a little, ive been living down the beach latley its been good therapy for me ,hmmm now what ,maybe just a swim and then a chocolate after, yep i think that will be good
Hope your all doing well big hugs to you all

Jojo
A quick swim and choc sounds just the right thing to do!!!
Love -
Jojo, i like your new plan.
-
JOJO: I think I know what you mean about the building bringing back bad memories. I had the option of going back to the same place for radiation but chose to go to a nearer location and I think that was a good choice. I was back to the original location once to have a blood test and my port flushed and the old memories came back. It's a nice building with comfortable waiting areas and lovely staff but I will forever associate it with memories of the hours in the chemo infusion center.
I think once you get into a routine of going every day for rads and getting in and out so quickly, it will seem like clockwork and you won't mind it so much.
-
Mary, please mark me D_O_N_E with treatment #8! Hallelujah!
Surgery scheduled for April 15 (double mastectomy), 6 1/2 weeks rads beginning in mid-May and 10 treatments of Avastin (30 weeks) beginning in June. Still a long road ahead but maybe the worst is behind me.
I went bald with Taxotere/Avastin, but my hair started growing a few weeks ago while on AC/Avastin. My six year old grandson had his hair buzzed on Sat so we could have a race to see whose hair will grow the fastest. The race is on!!
God bless all of you in the good times and the bad!
-
DebbiD: I'm glad to hear you are finished with this step. Is Avastin given as an infusion too or is it by injection? Your grandson will be taking a great interest in your hair growth now that he has a stake in it.
-
Debbie, yahoo to you. I am doing a happy dance for you..
-
Debbi, I am also doing the happy dance for you. At least one thing is out of the way and you can move on to something else.
JoJo, chocolate will fix anything, except maybe BC, but it is a good start. You will be surprised at how fast rads will go and then you will be free, free to run on the beach.
Michele, how did work go today? Did it feel good to be back or were you so tired at the end of the day that you needed a nap when you got home?
Mary, you know I didn't even think about it when I went back to the same building for rads. I guess I don't associate anything with the building. No telling about me.
CAtharsis, I think you will find rads to be the easy part of all of this. Even if you have some SEs.
Good evening to all the wonderful ladies tonight. Hope you all had a good day today.

Hi All!
Just checking in. Everyone seems to be having better days! I have been at the beach with the kids for the last week or so. I am home for a few days, but will go back on Wednesday. IT IS TRUE THAT CHEMO MAKES YOU MORE SENSITIVE TO THE SUN!! Found that one out, but not too hard!! I love having the new place.
I have not been wearing wigs or scarves. Hair is MAYBE 1/2 inch, and I have a lovely bald spot in the back, but I am just going to let it shine. I am too hot for wigs!
Implant exchange surgery on 4/8, hysterectomy about 8 weeks after that, and then on to the tamoxifen. It seems like it never ends, but it does seem to be getting better.
Hope all is well with you all!

Congrats to Dee, Suz and everyone else who has finished the RADs round! Way to pave the way for the rest of us.
CAtharsis - I have been told that skin coloration is not an indication of radiation reactions. I haven't been told officially that your skin health and overall health effects it either but I certainly believe it. With your work out schedule I would imagine you are in good health and should do fine.
Everyone, thank you very much for your support. I am getting on with my life and realizing that I love someone who is very self centered and a jerk. I have almost kicked cancer; I can't imagine kicking a jerk to the curb can be that hard.
