Hello Jodie......
I am glad your mom is coming to the end of chemo. CONGRATS!!!!!
I take D3.... I take 5000 IU daily. I was taking the pill form, but am switching to the liquid form. I just think it will absorb faster. It is called LIQUID SUNSHINE....it too is D3 and 5000IU
I started taking the aspirin too. I take 81 mg of Bayer aspirin 5 times a week. Seems like the study showed 2-5 days a week showed the best results.
I also take Ester C....and a product called Curamin......Or it may be called Curcamin...
I cant find the link now.....but I did post it on the TNBCfoundation.org website.....
If I can help u in any other way just let me know......
Oh yea get her to take MILK THISTLE.....that is suppose to be GREAT for the liver. Especially since chemo can damage the liver. I take that also....
May God Bless Us All

hi anglesabove, thanks a lot for your reply.
This maybe a silly question because we dont live anywhere near each other, but where would i get the vitimin d3 and the other things you mention. We have a health food store near us but the vitimin d 3 is only 1000 iu and it says to only take one a day. they only sell it in tablet form.....

I had been taking 1200 D3 (make sure it is D3) but still my levels were insufficient. So now my oncologist said I can go up to 2000...but add sunshine to synthesize it. I just had my blood drawn to see if I am in the normal range.
My main point is get your levels checked even if you are taking supplements. Also, I read 20 minutes of sun a day on 60% of your body. Kind of hard to do but now that spring is here...its a little dr. appoved very short sun bathing.

hi does anyone no a good website to get vitimins x

Jodie,
I googled vitramin D3 and United Kingdom and came up with this website. It seems to offer you many choices. Good luck. You should definitely get her levels tested before supplementing.
Mine was 19 after chemo and now 47 with using 4,000 iu gelcaps a day. That was 3 months ago and will be tested again next week to determine my new level. I was using the 2,000 iu gelcaps but just bought a bottle with 5,000 iu gelcaps. It's easier to take one pill than multiple pills a day.

Jodie....sorry so long to respond.....I order most of my supplements on IHERB.com
I was tested for vitamin D and it came back a 27. That was a month and a half ago. My Dr. put me on 50,000 IU twice a week for 4 weeks. I waited a couple of weeks and had blood drawn again to check my levels. I was FLOORED it is now ONLY 27.1.....HOW DO WE GET THIS STUFF UP?
Gonna try to get more sunlight.

My doctor put me on 50,000 IU of D2 for almost a year and my level never rose to 30. D2 is useless.
Take 4000 IU/day of Vitamin D3 and your levels should rise fairly quickly. You can get D3 over the counter at any health food store. Take 2,000 in the morning and 2,000 at night. After you have been on it a couple of months, get rechecked.

Read the links on the Vitamin D threads that I bumped.

I take 5000 IU's d3 per day...started out at 41, 12 weeks later at 53, hopefully in the 60's next time they check my blood..angels...your prescription will help you bring it up...toxicity level is at 100 so you have a way to go to worry about that..the only concern my onc had was kidney stones but since I have never had kidney stones he didn't think it was an issue to take 5000 iu's.
So..anyway...get yourself mostly naked and sit outside in the sun for 20 minutes..no sunscreen.

Do any of you all take the liquid form of vitamin D3? I just completed bottle of gel caps. Now I am gonna start this liquid form called liquid sunshine. Wonder if liquid works better.
Titan thanks for the advice. Yep gonna do the 20 minutes in the sun. I have heard to get the sunlight just not burn.
Thanks for all the lovely information. LOTS OF LOVE............

Your doctor can do a blood test to see what your vit D levels are and give you a better idea of how much you need to take. I take up to 5000 in the gel caps. and whats in my multi-vitamin and Calcium w/D
