Tattoo
I don't know where exactly to put this topic, so going for the fitness group. I am a 3 time survivor and will be completing my 5 yrs of Femara in Sept. I want to get a tattoo (in a very discreet place- I'm not a showoff) to celebrate my Scottish heritage which will be a thistle and a pink ribbon. Does anyone have any suggestions or tattoo sites? I got my only tattoo to celebrate my 45 birthday and I will be 55 this year so time to get a little wild again. : )
Hugs and hope to all.

I have a "pink ribbon" on the left shoulder in the back...very discreet. I had it done when a few years back when a biopsy from my right breast came back negative. However, last year I wasn't so lucky. I found a lump in my left breast and this time it was positve!

Rita .. that is so cool. I got my first tat on my 50th B-day! I designed it myself, so not sure where you would go on-line for ideas.
Try googling tattoos of breast cancer ribbons.
Have fun and happy birthday!

I'm thinking of adding a butterfly to it with the b/c ribbon as the butterfly's body.

Edit: Forgot to say, the tat is on my lower back.

Hi Rita - I got my first tattoo after I completed all treatment the first time around when I was 42 - it is a pink ribbon with 2 fuschia flowers on either side. Put it on the outside of my right calf so it is discreet at work, since I don't wear skirts. But it's easy to see when wearing shorts because I don't want to completely hide it. Don't be afraid of showing it off - it is art, after all. And your idea is lovely! My second is a gecko on the left shoulder, next to the neck - looks like it is peeking over my shoulder. It is covered when wearing collared shirts but the little head peeks out with wider cut Ts and the whole thing is visible when wearing tanks. There are at least 3 more I want to get but the onc is against it with all the meds I'm on now. She did say if I really "had" to have one, it was ok to do something very small. Unfortunately what I have in mind is fairly large :-) Maybe someday . . .
Have fun with this! Tattoos are beautiful pieces of art and should really have some significance, as yours will, and should be shown off.
cocojo - so sorry about your result. I'm sorry all of us are members of this terrible club.

Oh my gosh, Bren - I was typing while you submitted your post so I didn't see it until now. Love it!!! Very similar to what I want next - morning glories wrapping around my arm - from forearm, around elbow, to upper arm. We have good taste!!
Adding a hummingbird would work too.

My husband got his first tattoo while I was going through my surgeries. The tattoo artist who did his asked for a picture of the pink ribbon to go by and designed the tattoo in front of us. He has a pink ribbon with the year of my dx on the tail of the ribbon, my name over the top and my wife my hero underneath. He had it put on his upper arm.
One lady in my support group had a small pink ribbon tattooed on the inside of her wrist.
Myself, I have two tattoos that nobody but my husband and doctors see (my areolas).

The morning glories are gorgeous. I like the ideas of hummingbirds, butterflies too. I'll stay with the Scottish thistle and the pink ribbon. The tat I have can only been seen if I wear a bikini and those days are long gone. Shoulder, back, I even like the idea of the inside of the wrist. Decisions, decisions. At least they are fun decisions for a change !!!!!!
Sorry we are in this club, but we are one heck of a bunch of gals.

My dh did a pink ribbon tat on his upper arm as well. When he decided to do it, he had no idea how to find a good tat artist. So, he asked around to some of the younger crowd at work for recommendations, since it seems like most 20-somethings have at least one tat these days. One tat artist's name kept cropping up, so that's where he went.

I should have added to my first post - and my husband's last tattoo. He hates needles but wanted to do something to show his support. His friend from high school has plenty of tatts and he recommended the artist we went to. When the artist asked for a sample ribbon I started pulling out of my pocketbook with an embroidered ribbon, comb/mirror set and nail care set, what can I say, I just came from the Komen luncheon and it was all in the 'goodie' bag.
