Site of Calcification-chance of invasion?

Does anyone know if the location of calicfications is where IDC is more likely to be found? I had six calcifications biopsied, and they all were Grade 3 DCIS with comedonecrosis, Her2 score 3.

Is it more likely, less likely, or does it not matter if the biopsy is taken where the calcifications are regarding the chance of IDC? Is there any correlation between the presense of calcificatios, their shape, and the chance that there is IDC with the DCIS?

    Not sure what to tell you but here's my experience.  I had calcifications and my biopsy of them indicated atypical ductal hyperplasia. The surgeon did a partial mastectomy to see if there was any DCIS in the area.  When the path report came back it did indeed show DCIS but there was also an invasive tumor found. IDC was not found on the initial biopsy. My DCIS was high grade with necrosis, too.  IDC was triple negative and I just finished chemo (Taxotere and Cytoxan x4) and am starting rads on Monday, March 22nd.

    Like previous poster, not sure. I know that I had 3 micro-calc. clusters and the stereo. biopsy 4 samples were only taken from 1 cluster -- radiologist felt that that one could speak for the others, I guess.  DCIS grade 2 diagnosis was outcome, then lumpectomy, and pathology report from the lumpectomy found micro-invasive component (1.7 mm). So I think you don't truly know until the pathology comes back from the surgery (lumpectomy or mastectomy). Waiting is so difficult.
