Does anyone know of a group like this (alternative/complementary-focused) but for cervical cancer? I am sick to my stomach about this... I know all the toxins and lack of good nutrition are taking down more and more young women and it makes me SICK...... Frown

Human Papilloma Virus is most likely to blame for your friend's cancer. I'm sorry to hear about what you're friend is dealing with. Perhaps ACS has a forum? I'd google it--maybe you already have.

Thanks; I found that out after Googling some more after I posted. Sheesh, my husband and I were ridiculed for being prudes before marriage but I guess being a prude has its advantages. All the sites I found said to prevent cervical cancer or HPV, get a vaccine and have regular pap smears... no mention of abstinence as a way to help prevent it... I guess that's too ridiculous and far-fetched to even suggest in this day and age. Oh well. Thanks for the ACS suggestion; I don't know why I didn't think to check there first (she probably has as well). Thank you again.

    Hi, CrunchuPoodleMama,

I just wanted to re-inforce that all cervical cancers are not caused by HPV.  Figures range from 80-90% of them being caused by HPV, but there are other causes.  I was diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2000.  I had HPV tests from the time my Dr. first started seeing cell changes in 1998.  All of them came back negative.  I have had HPV tests with almost every pap since I had the cancer removed, and all of those have come back negative.  I continued to have cell changes even after it was removed.  I got frustrated with the fact that the doctors could not determine what was causing the changes, so I went to a naturopathic doctor.  He told me to IMMEDIATELY get off hormonal birth control pills and to completely avoid chemical sugar substitutes.  Sure enough, within 4 months, I no longer had cervical cell changes.  I never went back on birth control pills and my cervix has remained healthy.

WOW... that is so good to know, Mami... and VERY interesting that getting off the pill as well as artificial sweeteners cleared it right up! I'm 100% convinced that my former raging Diet Coke habit was a direct cause (one of several) that caused my bc... really makes me wish all chemical sweeteners could be banned.
