WOW - I got busy with the craziness of my life and I'm now 20 down and 13 to go!

Loretta - I understand how you feel.  I'm tired of having to go in every day.  In fact, I'm just plain tired, but I know we can make it.  Look at the awesome ladies who paved the way for us!

Loretta and Karen, Yea, woohoo, congrats.  I am so glad you both are finishing up.  I know the feeling when it is over.

I am still doing very well.  I am 1 week out and still have not had any skin issues.  I am red and some tanning, but nothing big.  I never had any blisters or a rash, just redness.  I feel so fortunate to have come out on the other side with hardly any SEs.  I have not suffered from fatigue either. I think I am doubly blessed.  I am usually not that lucky, someone is looking out for me.

God bless to all and woohoo for all that finish this week.

    Hello all-

Loretta I just read you last post and had to respond and say thanks for your last scripture post.I don't know if you remember me but my Mom was in Hospice. She passed last Tuesday and I am preparing for her funeral a week from Friday. My husband got very sick on Sunday and is in the hospital with cellulitis and a blood infection. I have five more boosts to go. God is really testing me and my strength.I just pray for better  days ahead and for him to give me a break.

Hope for better days for all.

Jeannie- My you have been through ALOT lately!  My heart goes out to you and your family.  I will say a prayer for God to strengthen you and give you Peace to know that He will see you through!

For the first time yesterday evening (I actually felt the heat of Rads)!!!  I felt like a firecracker when I got up from that table!!!   I normally spread the Silvadene creme after Rads like you do a cake.... HOWEVER last night I just batched it on-- not too much rubbing!!  LOL

I want to Celebrate after my last Rad treatment this evening--- not sure where I'm going to pull that strength from-- BUT I'm going to CELEBRATE!!!! NO MORE TREAMENTS__ NO MORE CANCER!

May God Be with you All!

Hi girls!  Just a quick note...I finished my Radiation with the Device in December, but I feel so in touch with you gals!   Hi Flo....Yes, I kept watching for you to post, to see how you were doing....So GLAD you are going ahead with this!  No, my little GOOM-BA, as the Radiologist called my "lump" is still there, Ha!   It IS fluid in the pocket the Device left, but "should" go down within 2 years.....Yeah, right!  But you can't really see it, I just feel it, & it's about as big as a soft golf-ball....I can massage it with cream, so maybe that will help!  Other than that, I am fine!  Do we EVER know if we are cancer free?  I am taking Tamoxifen, & only have a few side effects...But I think I have to do it for 5 years....

Hi Jeannie!  I don't "know" you, but my Daughter lives in Orlando, so are we neighbors, kind of?  Wink  It's so hard when the "bottom falls out!"  Just no way to make you feel better after losing your Mom.....I lost mine about 12 years ago, & I STILL miss her!  But sometimes I "feel" she is looking down on me....She had breast cancer also, with a mastectomy, but that is not what she died from....I just wish I could talk to her about that!   And sorry about your Husband!  It's just GOTTA get better for you!

CONGRATULATIONS LORETTA!  Way to go girl!  You gals are ALL so brave!  xoxoxoxoxo

    Happy St. Patrick's Day!

SOMETHING TO SHARE: This afternoon was going to be the last treatment--  I got a call earlier this afternoon that the machine was down and they wanted to reschedule my last treatment for tomorrow.  Anyways----after going back and forth, I suggested  -- Why don't we just call it DONE!!!  The nurse checked with the Dr. -- It was approved and soooooo I didn't have to go ANYMORE!!! HALLELUJAH!!!  If you remember me saying-- I didn't know where I was going to pull strength from for my last treatment---WELL I say that's how God works!!  The machine went down just for me not to have to go that last time!!  yipppee!!  DONE!!!!

My DH, son and I went to the Dr. to sign discharge papers and I let them ring the bell for me!  It was AWESOME!!!

Again-- I wish all of you the best on completing your treatments-- Soon this will be a thing in the past!!

Thank you all for you prayers and support. My husband is doing better. Still on antibiotics IV but may get out of hospital tomorrow and continue out-patient. He is getting his strength back and thank God for this and medicine.

My Mom was 99 and had a wonderful life.I was blessed with being able to be with her and hug and kiss her as she took her last breath. We said all we wanted to say and as I think of her all the time, and talk to her all the time, I know she is at peace and in heaven and is no longer suffering in the body of this world. We had the most wonderful times and she has left me a huge legacy of her art, her love and her faith. OK, I am getting teary again. But she told me not to cry for her but remember the blessing we have, and I do. Her funeral and celebrating of her life will be next Friday the 26th. If you are curious, she was a well know portrait artist and a write up will be in the Palm Beach Post obituary this Sunday. her name was Louise Altson. You can view it online.

I have four more boosts to go. I hope to celebrate with my family next week when they come to celebrate my Mom's life.

Happy St Patty's to you all and may we all have the the luck and blessings of the Irish..

    Where did everybody go?

I have three more boosts to go. All along they kept looking for the redness under my breast. Now I have it! I don't get it as I don't think this area is getting treated with the boost. Did anyone have this, and what did you do? I am afraid to say any thing as I don't want to delay my race to the finish line.

Hope your day is better than yesterday.

jakhope, peace be with you in this time.  I am glad you can celebrate your mom's life, I am sure it was full  and blessed.  Glad you DH is doing better.  But yipppeeeeee for only 5 boosts left.  When you are finished you will be so relieved.

Loretta, glad the bell has been rung, has rung, did ring, oh my gosh, you know what I mean. lol  You can get on with life now.  What are you going to do with all that spare time?

one-L -- Did you say spare time?  LOL    --Well, I have a 4yr. old who pretty much has kept me on my toes.  I am so ready to also get my house in order-- the last 9 months have been a roller coaster of fatigue and recovery.  You know even though I will still be having follow-up visits with Oncologist every 3 months for a while- That I can handle!!  I'm loving Life right now and so appreciative of making it thus far!!

This is now 3 days post Rads and my fatigue seems to be less and well my skin doesn't burn as bad!!  I stopped taking pain pills a couple of days ago and can tolerate without them.

    My Best to All!

I will check back in every so often to let everyone know how the skin is doing.  The Oncologist said I should notice an improvement about 1 week post Rads:)

loretta, well I guess a 4 year old would keep you on your toes.  I don't have spare time either.  I am having to work extra hours and will for the next 6 weeks.  Hope  you continue to feel better and better and are able to keep up with the 4 year old.  Maybe life can get back to your new Normal.

    Hi all,

Just wanted to drop a note to say that the toasted boob is becoming better slowly but surely. The worst tanning is now on the boost area. The rest should become normal color in 3-5 weeks if the past is any indication.

Is anyone thinking of having their tatoos removed?  I know they are small, but mine look like big black heads.  Yuck!  Any thoughts?

    Dear China

My tattoos are not that noticeable with my darker skin color. So I'm gonna leave them as is. I heard someone getting a whole big tattoo to hide the pin head ones!

My rad area is dark, dark brown (the rest of me is white, white, white) and starting to peel now to reveal the new pink skin underneath.  I'm having a hard time finding shirts to cover up the whole area now that the weather in southern ca is getting warmer (it's been in the low to mid 80's the last few days)  The weird thing about the peeling is that it's not just a thin layer like with a normal sunburn--it's a thick, scaly layer that looks like snake skin that's been shed.  You can see all the scaly looking areas on the skin when it falls off.  Yuck!

Hopefully the new skin will be just like the rest of the chest area and won't be noticeable. Bye bye snake skin!

Hi, I read every day but don't post. 8 down, 25 to go. Other than the radiation side being warmer than the other side I have no othe symptoms yet i really am hoping i do as well as you have one-L The team I have are very nice and I haven't had to wait at all which is great as I am going in after work and am always in a hurry to get home to Max. My 4# pom. With the longer hours away he has been pouting a lot.

grama5, I hope you do as well as I did also.  My red is just about gone and I haven't had any peeling yet like some others are talking about.

weety, hope you get all that peeling taken care of and then it will be just  like baby skin.

china,  my tats look like black heads also.  One  is right in the middle of my chest and would be able to be seen if I work a low cut shirt, but I usually don't wear them that low.  The other is under my arm and no one will ever notice it.

onty, glad the toasted boob is doing better.  It has been almost 2 weeks since my last  tx, do you think I could still encounter some problems.  My skin looks really good and is not near as red as it was.  I find it amazing how we all react so differently to the treatment.

    Dear One-L,

I'm also 3 weeks after completing rads and I don't expect the skin to get any worse now other than peeling which may be part of healing.

    onty,

I am not sure that I am even going to peel.  I have been keeping lotion on, but only two times a day.  I guess I will just have to wait a few more weeks to be sure.

Wow time flies.   I looked down and realized that I only have my 8 boosts left!  For awhile it felt like radiation was just a daily reminder that I had cancer.  Now it's like going to the break room and seeing friends who work in a different department each day.

As for tatoos, I tried to convince them to make them music notes rather than dots.  I don't think any of mine would show other than in a bikini and I don't see that happening ANY time soon.  Besides, with my freckles, the dots hide so well sometimes the techs can't find them! Wink
