What Else Causes Bone Pain? But Isn't Mets?

Options

Ladies

One thing I have become aware of in my time here is that many of us experience bone pain. And we all know that bone mets are one of the primary paths to watch for. I've had a few scares of my own.

I thought it might be a good idea to list as many of the other things it can possibly be, the symptoms, and how it resolved.

To save one another stress.

Maybe, if we get a good list, we can ask that it be stuck to the top.

    Vitamin D Deficiency

Overall bone aches, Particularly in the back and joints. Serious enough to wake me at night.

    Other Symptoms: Depression, irritability.

Tested for vitamin D levels - it was 7. Dr treated with D supplementation.

Resolved itself within a few weeks.

The tamoxifen and aromatase inhibitors can cause great joint and bone pain. Other causes can include arthritis and other inflammation. Cancer survivors are very prone to fibromyalgia and other auto-immune deficiency diseases so if pain becomes chronic and does not respond to ibuprophen or tylenol, it would be worth checking out the possibility of fibromyalgia.

Arthritis, slipped disk or other degeneration of the spine. Some muscles pull where they attach and it feels like bone pain but it is really muscle.

    Sciatica

Radiating pain down one leg from the middle of the butt, into the hip.

For me, it was caused by a fall off a horse, that damaged the nerves and muscles in my lower back. Compensating for that pain led to irritation in the sciatic nerve.

Muscle relaxers, plus chiropractor, and time.

Can osteoporosis cause bone pain? I'm awaiting a bone density report to see if Bovina has improved my results. Last year's test showed osteoporosis & now I'm wondering if  my bone pain is from the osteporosis or something else.

Since taking Aromasin I developed bone pain in my hands. legs, and hip. Stopped Aromasin about a week ago and the pain has eased but the weather has warmed up so maybe the extra cold days were causing my aches and pains and not the meds.

My understanding is that osteoporosis only causes bone pain when there are fractures or collapses of vetebrae.

    Still, what a comforting thought!

    Bursitis

Steady, heavy pain in a joint. Can last for months.

Had bursitis in my hip - orthopedist said that I could have a bone scan if I wanted one, but, because the pain was IN the joint, rather than along the bone, she would prefer to try a few things first.

    Ice, Ice, Ice.

    Chiropractor.

    Ibuprofen - large doses. 800 2ce a day.

    Worked with a physical therapist.

Pain that had been there for 5 months resolved in 2 weeks.

Guys, I am starting to feel like the only cripple here!

Oh and hormonal things like uterine fibroids can make your legs hurt like you were going through growing pains.

I get pain in the front of my hip bones from wearing low rise jeans and sitting in them for too long.

I had a recurring pain in my left tibia area. It was like a recurring painy kind of feeling that only really happened during the day when I'd been on my feet. It got to the point where I had convinced myself it was there...I mentioned it to a doctor at the hospital where I work and he said he'd order an x-ray - this happened last week. I was so worried, but there is nothing there. I have found that for me, my own stress and anxiety and fears are creating these pains. When I stop worrying they go away. I am depressed though, so I supposed that is bound up in it all too.
