I just got home from the Young Survivors BC Conf Sunday and the Trip Negative Session was Scary and Enlightening. There are currently 2 things in the trials stages for our Stage IV girls. One study is a perp inhibitor that will work like the prevenative drugs the Hormone receptive ladies take after treatment. Another more interestingly is working on turning our Trip Negative into hormone receptive. Imaging that... I'll dig out the info about the doc from the conference, but I am sure she is based in Atlanta. Just a little light on the horizon for those of us yet to come before the DAMNED CURE is ready! Right...a DAMNED CURE ALREADY!!!!

XO,

Regina

Well..if we can't get a damn cure...well at least it would be nice to have some kind of pill we can take besides vitamins....I feel like superwoman or something taking my mega doses of vitamins per day,.

Ya know.,,a co-worker of mine is triple neg...6 years out...Her onc told her that NOT taking the tamoxfin, etc..is not necessarily a bad thing...she had a masectomy, plus 4 AC'S  and that is all....her onc. told her to consider herself...good to go....she is my hero

The doc at the conference said if you hit 5 yrs, you are NOT likely to recur or get mets. Come on 5 yrs!

I agree...my 5 year cancerversary will coincide with my 50th birthday and my 30th wedding anniversary.  I told DH that he'd better start saving now, because we will be celebrating BIG TIME!

It's still four years out...spring of 2014.  But I'm planning already.  Maybe a trip to Paris?

Go to Paris!  That's where I want to spend my five-year disease-free anniverary. I'll be 50 that year. I got engaged in Paris in the garden of Luxembourg.  I want to go back there and take our 10 year old daughter, who will be 15 at the time.  I can picture it now.

I am currently in the PARP trial and am so blessed to be in it. Although I'm in Arm A, (not receiving the drug) I can crossover later. Yes this will be the wonder drug and probably new protocol for TN's in the future.

Now that is really interesting about turning our - receptors to positive! When I get to my 5 yrs. free (I did have a recurrence last year) I will definitley celebrate by going scuba diving.

    Thanks Regina

    Prayers & Hugs,

    Jeannine

    Hi Jeannine,

Would you tell me about the PARP trial, what are the side effects, what is the protocol like? My onc says it might be a promising one for me in the future.

    Thanks much,

    Cathleen
