MRI report questions
I have been searching but can't find the answer to this. I had an MRI with benign results but am wondering what this means. It says "inumerable enhancing foci". What is that?
It also says that there were no cysts shown. Seems odd to me as shortly before the MRI had a needle biopsy of a couple of cysts, so we know they were there. I also have a fibroadenoma and it makes not mention of that whatsoever. Is that unusual?
Thanks.

Hi,
I too have had a recent MRI, and the report said that I have numerous foci of enhancement. It was given a Birads rating of 3A - probably benign but short-term followup recommended. I asked for a biopsy of the largest enhancement, and it was a papilloma with atypia, and I am scheduled for an excisional biopsy in 2 weeks. Hopefully I will get B9 results from that, and then they will continue to watch the other enhancements, but it still makes me very nervous about them. What was your birads rating? Did you speak to the radiologist about it?

I had a MRI right after I was diagnosed with DCIS. The MRI report said, numerous foci of enhancement in both breasts probably benign. Followup in 6 months recommended. Because of the DCIS, I was given a birads 6, but probably would have been given a birads 3 otherwise. I recently had the followup and it came back looking better than the one I had 6 months ago. I still have enhancements but not as many. I was given a birads 2 with a recommendation to get another MRI in a year. Right now, my mind is at ease, but I know when I get closer to that MRI next year, I'll be really nervous again. Of course I'm nervous about my upcomming mammogram in a couple weeks.

Hmm..so iMRI couldn't diagnos or identify a papilloma, then I guess mri can't spot or identify a fiboradenoma either (?). Wow. My report actually states "no cysts" when the month prior I had a biopsy on 2 cysts that have clips in them! I thought MRI's were better than this. Mine also says I have "regional enhancement" in addtion to "inumerable small enhancing foci". Birads 2.
What threw me was the statement that there are no cysts and lack of any acknowledgement of the fibroadenoma....
