I wanted to report that I finally measured my hair because the more I played with it the more I started to think it's longer than I think. It is!
My hair is 2 inches long in the back and about 1 - 1 1/2 inches on top - Wow! I was way off......... DH said it's hard to see the length because it's still laying down and the waves.
Hope everyone had a good day.
-
Wooo hoooo Jenn!!!! I am so jealous
-
Well, I didn't play too much this weekend. Yesterday my oldest daughter came over, we went to the grocery, then the park and walked the dogs around the neighborhood. Today DH and I ended up working outside cleaning off and rearranging the patio furniture, we have a huge picture window (comprised of 9 smaller windows) that needed to be reglazed so we did that and Wow, that is a lot harder than I thought. Then..........I decided to take down screens and clean them too. On top of laundry, bathing dogs and Easter decorating. However, I do feel very productive - so I guess it's a good thing. The weather was just beautiful this weekend, which is why I felt the need to be outside.
Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.

Hey ladies! I just wanted to check in and say hi! I hope everyone is doing well! My last radiation treatment is tomorrow! I'm quite excited and I'll be glad to hopefully put this all behind me. It felt like this day would never come when I was first diagnosed. I had a bad scare awhile back - I had been having some pain in my ribs so my oncologist ordered a chest xray and it showed a shadow in my lung. Well, I had a second chest xray and then a CT scan and finally they said it was just soft tissue making a shadow when there wasn't anything in the lung at all. Whew!
Hope you are all having a good weekend!
-
Wow Jenn just reading what you did this weekend makes me tired! I think someone is getting back to her old self / old energy again
Karen -- what a relief!!!! So glad it was nothing.
Lilah
-
Congrats on finishing Rads, Karen. Glad your tests came back negative. Sorry you had to go through that.

-
Yeah, Jenn, I am so proud of you (and envious) of your busy, busy weekend! You really must be feeling more and more back to normal. I can't wait till I can start feeling that way again.
Karen, So glad you had benign results!
-
Lilah/Weety - Luckily, up to this point the radiation has not affected me in such a way that I'm in terrible pain or discomfort, just tired at the end of the day. Yesterday was a bit much, but I was so determined to get it done, that I just kept going. My muscles weren't happy, but it felt so good to be outside and doing stuff I used to do. The BC journey has been 9 months so far, but 8 months prior to this I started dealing with a torn achilles and was in a boot, then surgery, cast and boot. So..... I've really been down for a long time and itching to get out in the yard. My poor husband.........he's not going to like all of my "little" projects I have lined up.
Karen - Sorry you had a scary time - I can't imagine. Congrats on being done!. I am close - one more week and I'm done, done, done.
-
Karen - WaHoo! Rads done! I'm glad your rib pain turned out to be nothing bad...except pain.
Jenn - It certainly seems like your energy is coming back. Yippeee! Last weekend was the first weekend in months and months that I spent zero time on the sofa. I wasn't quite as productive as you were...but busy all the same.
I'm starting my third week of rads. So far no skin or fatigue problems. I'm finding I don't even mind the daily routine of it. This morning I was in, radiated, and out before my actual appointment time!
Biggest news on my end (and only you ladies can appreciate it)...eyebrows sprouting! I'm soooo happy!
Patty
-
Patty -- wahooooooo eyebrows!!!!!
-
We've got to be thankful for the small things!!!
-
You don't realize how big a difference eyebrows make to your face until you don't have them anymore. haha
-
Karen that is so true! I felt I only looked like a cancer patient when the eyebrows and lashes went.
-
Eyebrows - never thought I'd say I LOVE 'EM
Patty - Yippeeeeee for the new growth.
-
My hair has just started sticking up and I am not wearing a hat any more.
-
Gill - Whoo Hoo....... the hair is getting longer. The down side is we have to figure out what to do with it.
-
Jenn/Anybody- Any ideas on what to do with a headful of cowlicks? Parts are curly, the rest is just going every which way. I showed it to some friends yesterday and they were speechless. Not a good sign!
Patty
-
I'm not sure - I have a big one right in the crown of my head - with my previous hair I knew how to manage it, these new curls and wave put a new twist to it. Ha!!! Did it again - TWIST......
I'm thinking a mousse to maybe tame it and some bobby pins, but haven't reached that point, still letting my do it's own thing right now. If it really bothers you maybe talk to your hair dresser, but it may have to go it's own way until it gets to a length long enough to "tame'.
BC - the gift that keeps on giving.................
-
Give the hair a little bit longer to grow out. I tried mouse, gel, hairspray and it still did it's own thing. Now that it's about 2 inches I went to Sally's Beauty Salon and found the smallest curling iron with teeth (don't wanna burn my scalp) I can just barely get it around the barrel but it really makes a difference. I actually looks tame.
-
Thanks for the advice ladies! I too think it is a matter of length. Right now it is just intent on doing its own thing....which basically looks like I combed my hair with an egg beater.
Patty
-
LOL Patty... I think we have the same hairdo
-
Come on girls, post some pictures!!!! It sounds like you have more hair than me and I've done it. In fact my hair is better than the picture I posted as it started sticking up this weekend rather than lying flat (except for the cowlick.)
I really like it sticking up and encourage it to do so. I have been hatless since Sunday, going to my sister's 50th birthday party tomorrow (I'm visiting in England) plan to go topless and it's great!!!!!
-
Gill - Before I post a pix of my new messy hair, I thought I'd finally get an avatar up of me with better behaved hair. Now I'll see if I can figure out how to insert a picture. Any hints?
Patty
-
Hi Patty, im new to the site but i just wanted you to know you are looking great
-
Hi Patty - can't help you with inserting a picture, DH did it for me. No doubt someone will come along with instructions.
Fionn welcome! Tell us a little about yourself. Where are you in your cancer journey?
-
Patty -- what a great picture! I love your hair
Hope it grows back the same!
-
Patty - love the pic.
Gill - I'll eventually get a picture up there. I'm really lazy when it comes to changing pics on the computer, which is why my pictures here, on facebook and backround pics never change. And........I really don't like the camera right now, but will try to step in front in the next few weeks. I do want to document the hair growth.
Today the weather is beautiful, sunny, blue skies and upper 60's. I am heading out to weed the garden and get it ready for planting later today or tomorrow.
Welcome Fionn!
Hope everyone has a great day!
-
Karen, Thank God your scans were ok, I guess we would have never known so much about our own bodies if it wasn't for BC. I'm sorry I haven't been on for awhile; but I did the happy dance when I read all was ok!!!!

Remember I was due to celebrate my 40th b-day in NOLA and then came BC and screwed it all up.....well my hubby suprised me by taking a couple of days off work..all be it a short trip him and I will finally be in NOLA next week for a quick 3 day vacation (better than nothing I guess) They were schedueling my first after treatment diagnostic mammo last weel and I said anytimes good for me as long as it's "after" my trip to NOLA...haha!
