Peer Support Groups in Twin Cities?

Options

Hi,

I am looking for a peer breast cancer support group anywhere in Minneapolis, St. Paul or the surrounding suburbs.  I am currently attending a breast cancer support group at Abbott-Northwestern hospital that meets once a month but that is not enough for me.   I would like to find a group that meets once a week.

It  (the group) doesn't have to be run by a hospital/medical center.  Does anyone out there know of any weekly groups/gatherings/get-togethers in the twin cities?  Thanks.

 Idell

You might call the Fairview Breast Center and ask them if they have information. Or call the MAYO clinic and see if they know of some in the Cities.

You might want to contact www.networkofstrength.org, they have a 24/7 support line and can also connect you with a peer mentor.  I know that HealthEast Cancer Care Center in Maplewood, has monthly meetings as well.

Another place to contact is the American Cancer Society to find out what other services and supports they offer.

I'm here in MLPS and I  live in the SW suburbs. I have not even looked around for a support group, but would like to some day.
nowards: The FV Breast Ctr. is where I had my diagnostic mammo and the system has been very supportive from the beginning.

Did anyone ever find a support group in the Twin Cities that meets more than once a month?  I have looked around and not found much.  I have finished treatment and finally have time to do this--and could really use the support!

    thanks
