Wild dream Kristen! I think last night I dreamed I chose the dark chocolate and it was a huge mistake (no idea what it means but since I was left feeling horrible about my choice I'm thinking it is BC/implant related lol)

Coolbreeze: I think you need to take your PS some photos of some of the gals on the pictures forum who are unilaterals and who have a very symmetrical appearance and look good NEKKED!! Like SandySunshine, NVDiane and Nedeza - [who will improve symmetry with the planned lift]. I know some of these women would not mind in the least if you lifted their photos and took them to your PS and say, "Can you do this?" I just sent SandySunshine's photos to a PS in Australia so that he could see how symmetry and a cosmetic outcome is possible with breast reconstruction. His patient is close to Sandy in vital statistics.
EDITED TO ADD:
Your PS is going to expand you to 420 ccs. It seems that he could get you to a 375 cc to 400 cc implant - high profile Mentor silicone - on the MX side and then lift/augment the healthy side accordingly. A Mentor Spectrum expandable saline implant on the healthy side seems to give the best chance of symmetry. I know you have one saline and one silicone, but those who have them are fine with the combo implants.

Jean!!! Hooray...we can see your pretty face at long last!!!
-
Lap 3, my right breast slopes in with a hollow area and the left side my cancer breast has a crease or wrinkle whatever you call it and my nipple on both sides head out towards my arms.... My new PS said he could redo the nipples to where they are more centered and add fat grafting to feel the other areas. If your not happy and your PS doesn't seem to communicate with you and here what your saying go for a 2nd opinion asked around and I'm sure someone can refer you to a PS that will listen and make you feel better. Please don't wait as long as I did and have the exchange and nipples done and regret you didn't look for another PS.

I ditto the idea of having MRI evry three years. In fact my BS reccomends them every two if insurance allows. I'm trying to stay somewhat in denial, but I may have one sooner rather than later. I've discovered two little BB like lumps just under the skin on the lower pole of my cancer side. I had an appointment today to check this out, but the office rescheduled me til Friday. I am over a year since my first MX and at the time the BS said if it ever recured it would be little hard lumps just under the skin. I'm a little scared.
Back to the bra topic(much more fun). I found a section of bras specifically for reconstructed women on 'The Bra Lady' website. I'm not very large and don't need a lot of support but there is a Waacol bra that does have a lot of support. I haven't ordered because the Warners Bliss bras are doing right by me. I especially like the non underwire style with the built in cookie to push up the girls just a bit.
Waiting till Friday,
Bobbi

Hannahsbear and pinkribbongirl, so happy to hear your surgeries went well! and no more te's in the armpits:)
Lilah, that is a funny point, anything is better after those te's, except for our original yippee squishy girl who liked both!!!
Wbuggie! I hope you find a new PS soon! I hate to hear that you or anyone is treated that way! AJ, glad you found a great new PS that will take care of you!
Kristinka, interesting but scary dreams! I usually have incredibly real ones, these days just silly anxiety ones that wake me, like what kind of car to rent to drive to Yosemite! Been so worried till I asked a friend that used to live out there and she told me they just rode motorcyles! I think I'm overanalyzing this stuff to keep my mind off you know what!
-
Geena - I agree with you about being able to use my pecs to do exercises. I am a Pilates person and I plan on continuing, although, take it easy to work back into my routine. Having just had my surgery, I know I need to wait for healing. My PS and I go round and round on this issue. He's not against it, just wants me to wait and then work it in slowly, which is what I'll do (I hope!)
Hannahbearsmom and Pinkribbongirl - Glad to hear that both of you are doing well. Yipee Squishy for us!
Chris
-
Oh Bobbi - Please let us know what you find out. We will be thinking of you!!!!!
-
Val61-I am not wrapped at all. I'm wearing a supportive surgical bra 24/7 and that's it. I do see my PS tomorrow. We'll see what he has to say. He may have to wrap me if the implant is not behaving. Ironically, tthe TE side is doing fine. It's the healthy side that has me wondering. I'm also rather tired. I think my body is just saying ENOUGH! I am not taxing myself physically. I'm being careful. For me, I think, it's just all the meds - I'm not good with them. Oh well, just take one day at a time.
Enjoy the rest of the evening ladies. Chris

Good evening, ladies! Sneaking in a quick "hey" before my dh gets home and takes over the computer....
I went to the ps today - and he FINALLY said I can move my left arm and begin really exercising again!! YIPPEE - no more stupid recumbent bike for me!! (don't mean to offend any lovers of this bike - it's just not my thing - but it was the only type of cardio my ps would allow post-op). He said the left side looks perfect - and he said the "play" that I noticed in the implant was just the pocket naturally relaxing. He said the main thing to do is to keep the implant supported for several more months - yes, that means the tight bra 24/7 - so that gravity and my sloping ribcage don't make it relax any more.
He also said I could schedule nips anytime after another six weeks (that would be 12 weeks post-revision/exchange). Funny, my dh and I were discussing nips last night, as I seem to be wondering if I want them......he said he thinks I'll continue to feel like a victim if I don't have them.....probably true.....then again, maybe he just wants them for himself! I also think I'm slowly developing a bad case of doctor withdrawal.....like what I spoke about last week after the lecture I attended......either way, I did get on the surgery schedule......so NIPS FOR VAL ON MAY 13!
I scheduled them between my two sons' graduations.....hopefully that will be okay......he said I should be able to wear "normal" clothes by the second graduation.....

Hi Coolbreeze!
It's great to see you back on Exchange City! I agree with Deborah, that since your PS keeps downplaying the results you should expect, take him pictures and say, "if you can't make me look this good, I'll find someone who will!" You deserve the best--we all do! You are more than welcome to show him my pictures; that's why I had them posted in the first place! Although you certainly won't want an 800cc implant like I have on my cancer side; I'm just 5'2", but I'm not tiny otherwise, like you are.
There shouldn't be any reason he can't make you symmetrical, and if he can't, others can! This is actually the first time I've ever been symmetrical, and I love it! (I was really lopsided before). Go for it!
Needza--You're right, we "uniboobers" need to stick together, LOL!!!
-
Diane, I remember your spectacular results.
I'll check out the boards again and see what I see. Maybe bringing in pictures will help.
-
ajones Thanks for the priceless advice about changing PS's before getting the nipples done. I'm sorry you are having to have those revisions:( I do know the name of another PS in our area who does revisions . . .she comes pretty highly recommended.) I don't know, my PS went to Harvard, is board-certified and came recommended from several different people, but your point about communication is crucial. I have yet to see him or talk to him about my issues (I've only seen his PA). I did find out today that I have a seroma which explains size difference.. .I have to have it drained and /or a drain added on Thursday but by a totally different doc. Oh well it could be worse. .. . Thanks again for the support!
-
I remembered Diane but I just found Nedeza and SandySunshine and wow, you guys got more than I hoped for, along with Diane. Gives one of the rare uniboobers hope.
Nedeza, when I saw the photo of you with just the expander, I thought it was me for a second.
I will post my own photos when I get there, unless there is advice to be had by just posting the expander process.
Whippetmom, you look amazing as well.
I have some questions:
Whippetmom said: Your PS is going to expand you to 420 ccs. It seems that he could get you to a 375 cc to 400 cc implant - high profile Mentor silicone - on the MX side and then lift/augment the healthy side accordingly.
I understand that cc's are not exact to cup size but given my size, do you think the 375/400 will get me to a C? I am unable to tell with the exanders - it doesn't even look like a breast to me so when he tells me it's shaped nicely I'm just going...uh.....okay....turtles ARE shaped nicely.
What does "high profile" mean and what is it for?
A Mentor Spectrum expandable saline implant on the healthy side seems to give the best chance of symmetry. I know you have one saline and one silicone, but those who have them are fine with the combo implants.
No clue this could be done and it's excellent information to have. I had cysts drained in that breast a month ago and it has not recovered. It was nicely shaped and now it's a sagging old lady breast. I think having it done after I hit menopause probably killed any chance the divots would fill in again, but anyway, it makes me glad I'll be getting an implant in it. Will this make any difference, do you think? He is putting it under the muscle, of course.
It sounds to me like all you ladies done with your exhanges wear bras all the time - is that the case? I don't have a problem with that - my breasts were so painful for years that I have been wearing bras 24/7 for a long, long time. But, it sure would be nice to be able to wear a top that needs a strapless bra or something - and not wear one.
Why do you suppose this process confuses me so much? I figured it was numbers and the .cc thing which I suck at but in this one instance, I just want to leaveit in somebody else's hands. I don't even want to ask questions. And, that is most assuredly NOT like me.

((((bobbi))))
this is the part I hate...
it will be ok sweety....

Coolbreeze~
Not a problem sharing my pics...actually my new foob is looking better & better as time goes on. I will have to post new pics but will wait until I get closer to my "lift" date. You can fine me on "My unilateral journey so far ~ revised".
Kristenka~
Being in the dental field...my dreams are certainly wild!!!! Numerous times I would wake up freaking out that ALL my teeth had been pulled out!!! EeeeKKKK!!!!!
Blessings to all!

Ladies..
Please tell me what you mean by " good support bra"
my mindset: if you have an under wire bra that is your proper size, you have on a "good support bra"
-
CoolBreeze--The question of bras seems to elicit different reactions from different PSs. I think it's Val who calls her PS the bra fanatic?? Well, mine is the opposite. Other than surgical bras, he hasn't suggested that I wear a bra any other time. At my most recent appointment with him, which will be the last (unless something comes up, of course) I asked him again if there was any reason why I needed to wear a bra and he said, no! I never have to wear one unless I want to--so, since I have always hated bras, I was happy about that! I can only assume that after performing reconstructive surgeries for thirty years, he has confidence that his work will stay put, LOL!
-
Laura-- Today I decided that, even though I don't wear a bra any other time, I really need one for exercise. So I bought a Lily of France "No Bounce" sports bra (hot pink, yeah!). Hopefully, if it prevents bouncing, that will give me good support. I don't want either of the girls to bounce up and give me a black eye.....
-
NVDiane~
I have that sports bra & it is wonderful! I have been wearing it for all my cardio exercises!

Hi everyone! I just wanted to say thanks for all your well wishes for me. I will be unveiling my new foobs tomorow morning. I have only tried to get a little peak. I can't really tell anything yet since the guaze is a little bulky but as I said earlier, they are definitely Yippee Squishy!. I am still having just a bit of soreness and taking ibuprofen for that. My PS said that I can shower and remove the bandages tomorrow
--I have to say I am nervous about seeing the results.
reeltchr and pinkribbongirl: I am glad to hear that you are both doing well after your surgeries!
TCK
-
Nedeza--Wow! I guess great unibooberminds think alike, LOL!
-
Where do you ladies get that Lily no bounce bra? I need a good workout bra... all mine still allow me to bounce. I swear... these foobs giggle just like the real ones...hehe...
hannabearsmom... GOOD LUCK and HAVE FUN at the unveiling!!!
Ladies... the ideas behind the support bra??? Deborah.. Val??? ANYONE?? ( Those who wear one that is...lol.. I know most do not)
-
Laura--I got the bra today at Kohls. It is the "Lily of France Pro Shaper Wirefree Sports Bra". It actually has cups, unlike most sport bras. On the front a separate little tag says "Bounce Control"--that's what I was after! I'll try it tomorrow; hopefully it will do the job!
Diane

Laura ~
Ditto with Diane. I got mine at Kohl's too. The formed cups work great on those of us who are "uniboobers"!!! LOL! It helps even out the projection!

Bobbi, I'm sending good vibes your way.
Sorry you have to wait.
I'll be thinking of you on Friday.

NVDiane - he he he black eyes you crack me up - I am still hoping the new girls get bigger with the drop & fluff, no way these would have a chance of giving me a black eye!
-
Good morning ladies!!
I have to say, I so appreciate this board!! There is always someone or something that can lift your spirits! To all scheduled for surgery.... the best of luck and I hold you in my prayers!!
NVDiane.... I laughed out loud when I read yours..... I still have not gotten Thema and Louise out of my brain :-)
I wanted to reach out again to see if there are any women here that can suggest a good PS in the Tampa Bay area. I will want a second opinion soon and want to be ready with as much research on the person as possible.
Thanks so much in advance!!!
Wbuggie
-
Bobbi.... I am praying hard for you and I know you are anxious for Friday to get here. Hang in there girl and know we are all holding your hand!!
