Navelbine for recurrence

I am about to leave to be with my friend for her second infusion for a recurrence.  This time it is in her bones and possibly liver.  She had her first infusion with Navelbine last week.  On the third day after chemo, her mouth felt as if it was on fire.  The diagnosis was neuropathy of the tongue.  Today, 7 days later, she is throwing up.  She did not tolerate the chemo with the initial diagnosis and had to quit early.  Does anyone have any words of wisdom or suggestions as to what she should do?  I'm at my wits end and feel so helpless when trying to help her.

 God bless,

Chris

I was initially diagnosed IDC September 06. Had AC, Mastectomy, Taxol and Herceptin.

This year, mets to lungs and rib.  Had Navelbine, continued with Herceptin, and also am doing Zometa.

Navelbine was great for me.  I am no longer on oxygen.

However unfortunately rediagnosed on left breast, just had mastectomy 3 days ago.  Will know more pathology later.  Don't know what chemo.  If will start on Navelbine or change chemo.

You can always change chemo, they said, if she doesn't tolerate it as well, or don't respond to it?

I am about to start a new chemo for reccurance. I have two tumours on neck area and doc says I might start Navelbine. After a quite search in the forum I think Navelbine is very common for recurrances after an other chemo treatment. I also found it is well tolerable from patients but not sure for the time that it can work.I will know if I will get Navelbine tomorrow...

What docs say? Can she make another try with the same chemo? They should give something else instead. Did she tried soft mouthwash or chamomile with soda while on chemo? There are a lot of tricks one can use to smooth the side effects.

    Good luck to your friend.
