Fear

Options

I hope this is an appropriate place to do this.  I just needed somewhere to come and express my fear so I don't unload it on hubby, family, etc.  Over the last couple of days I've started experiencing a localized pain in the lower part of my hip.  It's really scaring me.  I know the rule of thumb is 2 weeks and to be perfectly honest I can't really tell if it's bone or muscle.  Also, I've been waiting tables a few nights a week (to help pay off that have co-insurance and co-pay) which sometimes gives me aches and pains.  I think it's very possible that it's just muscle pain related to being on my feet for several hours a night. (I'm no spring chicken, lol).

Anyway, I don't really want to get anyone bent out of shape about this but I really needed to express my fear somewhere because otherwise it will eat me up and I'll spend all my time alone crying.

Thanks for listening.  You are all amazing.

    Hi Diane:

Every ache & pain I get I fear that it's mets.  I've found that the best thing for me to do is see the dr and get whatever test: scan, etc. to rule out mets.  Otherwise I drive myself crazy w/worry.  Good luck to you.

    Diane,
We all wrestle with this from time to time-am I overdoing it or is this something to be concerned about?  I think it sounds like you are burning the candle at both ends.  Try putting your feet up for a little bit when you get home from the evening job, and maybe try a heating pad.  Start a log of when you have the pain, and its severity (1-10), so that you can try to see if there is a pattern (only at night, etc.).  That way, if the pain does persist for more than two weeks, and then you have to see someone, you have a log of what's going on.  Sounds like you just need to take it easy, but get it checked out if it persists.

I hope it all turns out okay!

Thanks ladies.  I'm happy to report that the pain has gone away and everything feels normal.  Well, normal other than freaking out over every ache and pain!
