Four weeks post radiation.......
Hello.......
I am driving myself crazy here. I am four weeks post radiation treatments and of course....WORRY, WORRY, WORRY.....
I had a double mastectomy 5/21/009. I have not done reconstruction at this time. The last few days I have noticed some red itchy bumps on the upper area of my radiated skin. Of course I am thinking....METS? They look like little bug bites. My skin is dry and I am moisturizing. I am praying this is POST radiation issues. Any help would be appreciated.
May God Bless Us All

Hi Angelsabove - It's hard NOT to worry, but I've been at this since April of 05 when I finished my rads from a dbl. mast. It took until maybe a year ago for me to really 'get' that the skin does change from rad treatment. Not to say you shouldn't be watching, but I think saying 'expect to see changes' is fair. I was just checking on some small red dots that I have this AM!! :-) If it's a BIG change that arrives pretty suddenly, especially around your scarline ... call you doc. In the meantime, put your worry to rest as best you can by maybe watching some Spring bulds come up. Good luck! Squeaker

I most likely is from rads but I would still get your onc or rad onc to take a look. Maybe they can perscribe something to help.

Thanks for the replies. I did put some moisturizer on my skin. It is not as itchy. it is not around the scar line. It is higher up. The very top of the treated area. I guess I was just wondering if mets is suppose to even itch? I go a week from tomorrow for my first 3 month post check up with Oncologist. The first blood draw and physical exam. She wants me to come every three months. We will scan every six months. I did do a scan Dec. 14, 2009....NED....Thank the Lord. I am really fair skinned so hopefully just post radiation issue......I HATE THIS DISEASE....:(

If it were me, I would arrange a followup visit with the radiation oncologist to have it checked.

I did go see the Radiation Oncologist this today. He said that it is HIGHLY UNLIKELY it has anything to do with the breast cancer. He said I would LOVE to give you a 100%, but with Cancer we just cant do that. He did say it looks like some sort of yeast. He also said that he does see all kinds of things post radiation while the skin is healing. He gave me prescription for some Lotrisome cream..(apply two to three times a day).....His nurse will call me Wed. afternoon or Thursday Morning to see if this cream is clearing it up.....UGGHHH....WORRIES......I am holding onto the words HIGHLY UNLIKELY....LOOKS LIKE YEAST.....ALMOST CERTAIN.....
