Arimidex for Triple Neg??

Hey, all --

I saw my onc today for the first time since I finished chemo and rads, and she wants me to consider going on Arimidex for 5 years, like the positives.  She said there's some feeling in the med community that since even er-pr- negs have some positive receptor cells, the Arimidex could do some good.

She said there are no big studies and no percentages she could offer, but she wants me to think about it.

She's also going to have the lab re-analyze the tissue from my lumpectomy.  It's not as if I'm borderline, but only slices of tissue get biopsied and sometimes the big picture is different.

I don't know if I'd want to risk the SEs for such a "maybe" kind of situation, and I wondered if any other triple neg has been offered this or done it.

    HI Max,

From talking with others in my support group who are on Arimidex, it sounds like the SE's are pretty intense.  I will be interested to see if my Onc recommends anything similar when I see him for my f/u.  Let me know what you decide....

I have only heard of Arimidex use in extreme cases.  The worst side effect of this is big time heart problems not too mention all of the other stuff.  I don't see what stage you are in--I would want to know more about why your dr. is recommending this.  I would go get a second opinion or even a third.

     Best of luck to you!
