C/A & Taxol--TOENAILS

Options

I finished chemo mid January.  My big toes' nails are painful, leaking some sort of fluid (lymph??? Not infected) and the nailbeds seem wiggly and loose.  Help!  How do I keep my toenails from coming off??????

Thanks:)

Good news/bad news. When mine fell off, the pain was gone immediately. The "oozing" could be a sign of infection. Best to ask your doctor about an antibiotic.

    hi jteach,

i didn't have any oozing but i went to the foot dr for mine. i didn't want any issues for the regrowth. i lost both big toenails but they're growing back just fine now. Slowly but ok. he gave me ointment to put on every day. i do it religiously!

a lot of women have been through this. fingernails too... my friend told me to put clear nail polish on before i started taxol and my fingers had no problems at all. for some reason, chemo brain, i didn't put the clear on my toes and the nails came off.

make sure there's no infection. good luck!

I wasn't able to figure out anything to keep my nails from coming off, my onc Dr said there was nothing to be done.  I was terrified that they would hurt but they didn't at all, it was a relief when it finally happened.  I finished chemo last June & my toe nails have almost grown all the way out, I have one little line left.

    Good luck! Cheers, Dee
