CT Scan: Very Scared
Having abdominal ct tomorrow AM. Primary dr ordered it due to mild pain in upper abdomen and side/back. Also had rust colored urine at times but that seems to be cleared up now. Did a urine sample and came back negative. Also had blood work done. Am freaking out about the scan. Scared that it's liver mets.

Nobody likes scans.....
It is hard. But, I would think its necessary at this point.
Im glad your urine tested negative. I would take that as a good sign. what did they test for?
All I can say is try NOT to focus on the worse possible outcome. Im sure there are many...many other reasons.
Maybe request the results ASAP if you can, so you dont have to wait too long?

Hang in there sweetie, the anxiety can get to you. Take a deep breath, I will say my prayers for you. xo

I'm not sure what they tested the urine for. Dr. just said it was clear, no blood, no bacteria. i will get results on Mar. 9th. @ 8:30 appt., unless I call before. Not sure if they'll give me results over the phone though.

I hate that "they" cant give results over the phone!
Why not?!!!!
You know what Ive had my GP and onc do? Ive had both of them put a big red circle on the front of my chart saying DO NOT CALL UNLESS EMERGENCY.
It lessens all the anxiety stuff. Then when I go in to have my check ups...we discuss the "non emergency" findings at that time....not before.

Try to hang in there and relax as best you can until you get some results. Because we're survivors, they will always tend to be more cautious with any pain. I'm sorry you are going through this, and we will all be rooting for it to be a minor, non-cancer related thing. Keep us all posted.

I always get my results on the phone. Then, afterwards the onc faxes me the report. I hate these artificial rules that torture us. Good luck with your ct!!

I've noticed that a lot of us have upper right side discomfort and I'm wondering if its hormonal. I had an ultrasound of my liver 3 or 4 years ago for this and it was fine. It feels better, but I still get occasional discomfort. Good luck.

Somerset72, you have been in my thoughts. How did your scan go?
HopeFor30...I posted this response to you but fail to address it to you. I should have PMed you but will just edit since I already posted. Sorry, sometimes I do such screwy things since chemo.
I had a lapro-vaginal hysterectomy 10 yrs. ago (pre-BC) because of fibroids and endometriosis. My ovaries were removed because the endometriosis wrapped around them. Recovery was quite tolerable compared to dealing with 20 day periods every month and I felt better than I had in years. Fast forward to BC diagnosis...I have been so glad that ovaries and uterus issues were out of the picture.
You may want to talk with your doc about the possibility of removing your appendix (if you still have it) during the surgery. I'm suggesting this because I just spent a week in the hospital to get mega-doses of IV antibiotics for a ruptured appendix and resulting abscess...3 mths. out from BC tx. It wasn't on my landscape then but now I majorly regret that I didn't have my appendix removed during the hysterectomy. It would have eliminated one major abdominal surgery and lowered chances of complications and future adhesions. We are more prone to medical issues after the extreme txs. we go through. I've lost a lot of ground recovery-wise and still have to go through appendix surgery as soon as the infection is clear (:.
Good luck to you. You are in my thoughts.
