I have a surgery date

I don't have much time (boys will be home from karate soon) but I wanted to let you all know I am having a bi-lateral mast March 25th.  I  haven't told anyone (except my hubby and surgeon) that I am doing both.  I don't know why....I just don't want to right now.  My date seems far but I know it will come up on me quickly.  My fear is easing down and I am grateful for that.  Thanks everyone here for all your help.

I have been reading all your posts and learning with you. I have also decided on a bi-lat. Mine will be March 1. I am ready to do this and get on with it. I have 1 husband, 2 kids and 3 dogs. Busy job and family. What a gift to have this site to learn and support each other!

    Hang in there!

I'm glad you have come to a decision that's right for you and glad that you have a date scheduled and can begin to move ahead and eventually beyond all this.  Everyone says--and so far it's been true for me--that the hardest part is the deciding (and the researching, organizing, consulting, talking, etc. that makes the deciding part possible).  Personally, I deal a lot better with "doing" than I do with "not knowing."  My surgery (lumpectomy) is March 9; I wish it were tomorrow.

I just wanted to say that I am so glad that you have made your decison and can move forward.  The first part of the journey, the hardest part, is over.  You will get through this.  All of you ladies will.  Keep posting to stay informed and share your feelings. We are all here for  you.

So glad you have a date. It makes things feel like they are progressing. I repeat what Carol Marie said... you will get through this, and you will be stronger for it. You are going to kick this, and you will kick it with style. Hang in there, and we're rooting for you.

    Mom3band1g...

I had a bilateral and only had cancer on right side. 14 months later I know I made the right decision for me. Try not to second guess your decision...you made it for a reason. Before you know it you will be recovered and beginning life again.

One thing I highly recommend for post op is go to Target and buy a contour neck pillow. Since you cannot roll over or sleep on stomach it help to support neck and prevent cricks.

    Where are you in Atlanta?
