Springtime I have it also and it never will be cured its a on going thing but your food effects it too if you eat out or processed food at all check the soduim it realy effects your arm etc. I also have gone to PT but even with insurance its gets to be too expensive but wrapping at night and using my electric massage machine helps allot.
Good luck and its suppose to be in the 40-50 this weekend we had snow last weekend its crazy ..
-
Spring,
Wow! Good for you! Maybe one day soon, I'll feel better enough to start exercising again. I'm taking the antibiotics, but my neck still hurts... the lymph nodes are swollen...
Harley
-
Harley, hope you're feeling better.
Spring, I'll let you know how the acupuncture works out
Wow, guys, that snow garden is blooming here today!
-
Just a quick hello all.
Have a good weekend!!

Happy weekend to all!!!

I have a friend who did the 3 day about four years ago and a group of us spent one day cheering her group from Huntington Beach to Long Beach. She did a lot of training for it and she said once was enough but she said it was one of the best expeeriences of her life.

I did not do anything today. I got depressed about surgery. In my mind I had one more to go, replacing the TE with the inplant. But today I found out I had another one, to uplift the other one to the fake one, a couple of months after the implant. I do not get why anyone would have surgery as an elective procedure!! It sucks. Well I am done venting, sorry. I am going to bed and will be better tomorrow. I try not to feel sorry for myself, but sometimes I cannot help it. In my mind I know I have the best prognosis, just this little blip was not in my plans. Thank you for letting me vent, I'll be more positive tomorrow. diane
-
Diane, you don't have to be positive. I agree, who would ever electively do surgery. Limits activities, hurts, has risks. If I never have another one I'd be happy. Still have to be thinking of doing that oophorectomy, however. I know the question is there and I have to face it sometime. Just need to be a lot further out from this crap. My PS is really really wanting to lift my other side and put a nipple on the recon side. I keep putting it off. Actually thinking I'd like to get some weight off and see how things look then. The way thats been going lately could be a long long time before I'm making that decision.
Did some power yoga yesterday, was a lot of fun. I haven't made up my mind if I'm going to do power yoga again today or put some time in on the treadmill and do a little lifting.
-
Diane
I agree... you don't HAVE to be positive... feel what you feel, and we are here for you.
I am feeling better today, a little better. My neck seems to be better today. I still think I will just rest up this weekend and hope I feel better on Monday. Don't want to overdo it, and I'm still taking the antibiotics. Monday is my last day. I hate Antibiotics, if I don't take the probiotics when I take the antibiotics I get horrible diarrhea....
Hope everyone has a great weekend. Glad to see you are all exercising. You all motivate me...
Love you all

Hi ladies!! Just a quick note to say hi since I haven't been on here in a while. I hurt my knee a few weeks ago--still don't know how. Argh! Did 30 mins on elliptical and then some easy yoga stretches I've done a million times and an hour or so later had stabbing pains through my outer leg and under my kneecap. So I rested it a week, went to see my chiro/sports med dr and he recommended an MRI. Ugh. Luckily the MRI doesn't show a tear (which is what he thought it was) but he wants me to get a second read on the MRI so I have an apt with a orthopedist tomorrow morning. Unless he finds something big, I think I want to skip surgery and try to rehab it. Perhaps a cortisone shot to take down the swelling I still have a little of. So I have not been exercising other than taking the dog to the beach and for walks... hoping to get back on it soon once I get some direction as to what I should do to rehab.
Anyway--hope you are all well!! Ainm, I read about your stunning record of 22 weeks straight--truly an inspiration!! Good for you...
-
Allie
Be careful. My niece really hurt herself on an elliptical machine. She had to get therapy and learn how to walk all over again... something with her knee... don't know if she tore something or what happened....
I use the elliptical and worry if I'll move the wrong way and end up hurting myself...

Just a quick drive by, its been a weekend of showers, some rain, baby shower and bridal shower for my DD today. It was gorgeous!! DH and I walked 2 miles quickly this a.m. and I had to be outta here at 9am and got home at 7pm (I'm tired now!). Exhausting Thur/Fri meeting with 2 plastic surgeons, one being an expert in DIEP and microvascular surgery. Long story short, I am not a candidate for several things. My option is lat/flap w/implant if I don't have extensive scar tissue from all my lymph node removal under my arm pit. I have some more questions waiting for PS #1. We'll see. Anyway, my DH left me the sweetest note today, since he left for the Bay Area after I left this a.m. it had a Hershey's kiss on it and said how much he loved me and how far I've come and how proud he is of me and I'm awesome. Just thought I'd share cause that really made me smile.
OK, gotta go rest now, love you girlies!!
-
Aw kari--what a great note and a great DH!! Glad you had fun at the shower. So also a baby shower? Did I miss something??
-
DianeNV - I am also doing the the Susan G Komen race in Vegas this year. We did it last year and it was awesome!!
-
First, for those of you who know & love Ivorymom (Meg) and may not have seen her posts in the Prayer section, I know you'll want to add her to your prayer list.
I was too busy with cleaning (my least favorite thing) and then house guests to walk either Saturday or Sunday, and today I'm headed out of town to take my son to a distant airport. If I'm back before dark, I'll try to get at least my 10 minutes in then, but my back is killing me from all that mopping and scrubbing. We have like 3,000 ft.of brick floors -- a charming feature, but such a pain to clean.
Hi, Allie! So good to see you back!!! I missed you.
Have a great week, everyone! Deanna
-
Allie, bummer about the bumm knee, so sorry to hear that.
Kari, it made me smile too. Hope it works out and you get the recon you want, even if it wasn't the procedure you thought it would be
Deanna you have my heart in my throat, what is going on with Meg?
-
Deanna, can you put a link to the prayer section here? I'm not hooked up with that and I know Meg, she is a dear. I want to know what to pray for....
Girls, this, below, is off topic but this is a great thing you all should watch! This guy is great and so easy to understand. Things you can do other than the standard medical treatments we've all done to remain cancer free. Author of Anti-Cancer, A New Way of Life, giving talk at MD Anderson in Tx. This is the book that got me started on my new way of life.

Allie, oops should have clarified, the baby shower was for a coworker! haha
Meg (hope you don't mind since we all love you) posted this on another group we are on: "I celebrated my one-year cancerversary at the beginning of Feb then went off for my first post=dx/tx MRI. Little bugger lit up on the MRI, so after four radiologists looked at it and looked at it, they decided I needed a biopsy right then & there. They also figured why not do some mammos as well, so I got the MRI, mammo, and US all in one day. It's a new primary in the other breast. I didn't notice it, neither did my BS, her NP, or my onc. Between them, I've had four clinical breast exams since Oct - two within a couple of weeks of the MRI." She meets with her onc to plan her strategy this week.
Spring, I will check out that video now. No exercise today YET!!!!
-
Hi everyone... I just played Couch Potato all weekend. Today, I went out for a walk on the beach with my dh.
Sorry to hear about poor Meg... will be praying for her.
Kari, good luck with the recon.
Springtime, kmmd, Deanna, and everyone...
Have a great week!!
I vegged all weekend... yesterday I went to a fundraiser for a friend who was dx'd with bc at age 31. She was pregnant, and had chemo while pregnant... she got Adriamycin, I think, after her little boy was born. Anyway, things were back to 'normal' for awhile... maybe a year or so... but now she was dx'd with bone mets... She is SUCH a sweet girl!! BC SUCKS!!
Harley -
Oh Harley, how utterly sad. I am so sorry! What a thing to happen during pregnancy and at such a young age. I want to SCREAM!!!!
I walked 2 miles over lunch, and I am going to do Yoga right now.
I am praying for Meg, thanks, Kari, for adding in her post. I know how she feels, my primary was also undetected - it is the reason I got a bilateral mx. Just could not take it, dense breast tissue, ugh.
Spring.
-
Harley, I am so sorry about your friend and I too, like Spring, am screaming inside!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Spring, great video! thanks for sharing!!
-
Thanks, Spring and Kari...
I am also screaming... it's JUST NOT FAIR!! I HATE BC!!! Ellen has two boys, one is 3 1/2 yrs. old and the other is her 'miracle baby' that had chemo with MOMMY.... Eli must be about 1 1/2 or 2 at the most.... it's so sad...
Harley
-
My heart goes out to Meg! It's just not right, she has done her time, she takes care of herself. Kari, Spring, Harley, I am screaming right along with you.
Well, I took my 'break' from exercising as per my doctor, had my bloodwork done today, so now I can go back and exercise. Now where is my exercise partner...
-
Good evening, or day--depending on when you are reading this--to all,
Harley, I'm glad for you that you are feeling better; I hope your body will continue healing and you'll soo be cracking jokes about your torture machine. Sounds like it was a real torture machine for Allie--YIKES! Allie, I hope your ortho consult will go well and rehab will help you get back on track. I have missed reading your posts here. Diane, honestly, there is no reason to apologize for venting. We wouldn't be much support to each other if we all felt like we have to focus on the positive all the time. I understand what it's like to want treatment or whatever to be DONE, and then it just continues for various reasons. UGH...but keep us posted so we can support you no matter what!
Kari--I'm glad that you are getting the info you need to make your decisions about your next step of care/recovery. Are you leaning toward recon if it is manageable? By the way, your husband is such a sweetie. I must say I rarely if ever take my husband--who is a real sweetie, too--for granted. Sounds like you don't either. I'm sorry that you two have four nights away from each other each week. And thanks for letting us know about Meg. I just thought about her the other day and wondered how she was doing. Just thinking about her and Harley's young friend can be so discouraging.... Breast cancer can be such a sneaky disease....
Spring, I also read AntiCancer, and I have decided to read it again. I also search for ways of reducing my risk for further spread of cancer, and I have tried hard to learn how to accept those things within my control and those things outside my control. It's a real challenge sometimes. (And to all who have asked, I am still awaiting word from my insurance co about the MRI + bonescan....)
Deanna and kmmd, you guys keep chugging along! That's inspiring. I did work out some of the days last workweek (I can't remember them all but know that Friday was skipped), then worked out for 30 minutes both Sat & Sun. We'll see about this evening. I just can't seem to get my butt out of bed in the mornings lately. pk, are you jumping back in to exercise full force, or are you taking a different approach? Ainm, I guess you are just step, step, stepping away! Keep us posted.
Sorry if I have forgotten anyone. I still have to scribble down names when I read posts to remind myself about who I want to mention, but sometimes I forget to scribble down the names. Darn that chemobrain! Or, as I have just learned from a book on chemobrain, darn that cancer/treatment related cognitive impairment!
-
Harley, Meg is on my prayer list.
pk0199 take it slow going back to exercise. Congrats on the hockey win--good game.
spring good job exercising today
brenda I did not have chemo but cannot remember anything. My students find it funny that I call my house and leave myself messages.
I went for my yearly exam today and just started crying. I hate it. Luckily he is wonderful and a good listener. I then came home and walked 4 miles. Walking and listening to music is one of the only ways I can forget thus junk. I am blessed to have a forum of "listeners". THANK YOU!!! The weather has been great and I am looking forward to a nice spring. The summer sucks, 110 everyday. I have to enjoy when I can. Enjoy your Monday/Tuesday everyone. diane
-
Meg you have brought so much to us. We all wish you the best and all of our thoughts and prayers are with you.
(((((hugs))))))
love
Penny
-
Meg - you are in my prayers too. BC sucks but it seems we all learn so much from it.
Harley - your friend is in my prayers too. A lady up here went to Duke and they sent her home. Mother of two small children and 34. At least she got to spend her last days home with her family. Cancer knows no boundaries.
Working nights as usual. Will check back soon.
-
Meg, you have an amazing attitude, and you are an inspiration. People say that, but you really really are. Good for you. They say our attitude is very important, so you have ten stars for that! Genetics be damned!
I also did 40 minutes of Yoga last night, and not gentle this time either. I need to work on my down dogs and planks. My tummy is less sore now, so it's time to pick up the pace a bit!
Today it is FREEZING in NC and looks like SNOW to me!!! I am wanting to do 30 min on the eliptical and 30 Yoga. PK, can I be your exercise partner???
Brenda, Yes, I thought looking at that Anti-Cancer Video, was like a recap of teh whole book, and again reminded me to be vigilent. It also refocused me on some things I had forgotten. I have already upped the berries!!! (I get frozen organic berries at Trader Joe's, great in oatmeal!)
Harley, I am finding the screaming is not helping. But I have to do it or I might explode!!!! Better get on that eliptical today, I have a lot of angst to burn off. Maybe I can use this "pissed off" to my advantage, maybe better work outs. ha!
Love love love to Meg and all of you lovelies, Spring.
-
Meg,
You are truly an inspiration! You are in my prayers.
Thanks everyone for the prayers for my friend Ellen... she is also an inspiration to me.
A lady at Ellen's fundraiser party told me that I am very brave... I don't know about that... I think we do what we HAVE TO DO... As I told her, I would have been under the bed with my cat, if I had the choice... but we don't have a choice... so we carry on... we put ONE FOOT in front of the other, and keep on keepin' on.
spring,
It IS cold here today!! We are having rain today AND tomorrow, too...
I did 20 minutes on the elliptical today... that torture machine... UGH! I am feeling better, and I took the last antibiotic pill yesterday, so I don't want to overdo it.Hope everyone has a great day!
Harley

Everyone - take care of yourselves!!!!
