I Come to the Garden...

I'll have to post a picture later, I don't have my picture harddrive atached rigth now.

A picture from the my garden in the Azores. This was a small blossom. The other ones you see are in the middle of their growing.

This was my mother's very favorites. When I sing it I think of her looking down from Heaven with a smile on her face!
O Lord my God, When I in awesome wonder,
Consider all the worlds Thy Hands have made;
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,
Thy power throughout the universe displayed.
When through the woods, and forest glades I wander,
And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees.
When I look down, from lofty mountain grandeur
And see the brook, and feel the gentle breeze.
And when I think, that God, His Son not sparing;
Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in;
That on the Cross, my burden gladly bearing,
He bled and died to take away my sin.
When Christ shall come, with shout of acclamation,
And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart.
Then I shall bow, in humble adoration,
And then proclaim: "My God, how great Thou art!"
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art.
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art! -

Grace, I also love that hymn. I posted it as the second hymn on this thread because it is so fitting when looking at these beautiful pictures of things He created. Your garden in the Azores must have been beautiful!
Do you have a garden in Okinawa? Matt has only sent pictures of his car, and of the coast/beach. But he says it is the most beautiful place.
-
Can I plead chemo brain for that one?????? DUH!!!!!!!!!!
I have a beautiful front yard and a long distance view of the Pacific Ocean! It is beautiful! Praying for Matt on his trip this next weekend.
-
Meece....Was thinking of you today.
I hope everything went smoothly and you were able to have all your appointments.

Meece...... Hollyhocks from last summer's adventures.
I too have been sending you good vibes for your journey today.

I LOVE Hollyhocks! Thanks for sharing that one Faith.
-
I have peach colored HollyHocks I love them, I wish the Japanese Beetles didn't like them, little buggers.
-
-
Deb. beautiful. Haven't seen much of you lately on the threads I frequent-everything OK?
-
Hollyhocks = grandma. I loved going out in her yard and collecting seeds. I might just plant some thisyear since my back yard is a work in progress and anything goes until weget the pond done and grass in.
I got through my scheduled appointments and then one! They squeezed me in for my diagnostic mammo! No more tests this time around, only Dr. follow-ups. I hope I don't hear from her until I see her on the 11th. No news is good news!
Grace, you can plead chemmo-brain whenever you'd like. I never quite recovered from it and it is frustrating. Onc told me she could send me to a nuerolgist, but I will just deal with it.
Prayer request: As Grace mentioned, my son Matt will be traveling from Okinawa this coming weekend. He is heading to a military hospital in Oahu for testing. It could make or break his military career and he truly wants to stay in. Please pray that God's will be done, and if it is His will, that He will guide the physician's hands and they will guide him to healing. Thank you!

I love all your pictures and unfortunately I am lame and don't know how to upload from iphoto onto this. But here is a hymn I remember from childhood.
Refrain
All things bright and beautiful,
All creatures great and small,
All things wise and wonderful:
The Lord God made them all.Each little flower that opens,
Each little bird that sings,
He made their glowing colors,
He made their tiny wings.Refrain
The purple headed mountains,
The river running by,
The sunset and the morning
That brightens up the sky.Refrain
The cold wind in the winter,
The pleasant summer sun,
The ripe fruits in the garden,
He made them every one.Refrain
The tall trees in the greenwood,
The meadows where we play,
The rushes by the water,
To gather every day.Refrain
He gave us eyes to see them,
And lips that we might tell
How great is God Almighty,
Who has made all things well.Refrain

right here Faith...
Oh God our Help in Ages Past
Our God, our help in ages past,
Our hope for years to come,
Our shelter from the stormy blast,
And our eternal home.Under the shadow of Thy throne
Thy saints have dwelt secure;
Sufficient is Thine arm alone,
And our defense is sure.Before the hills in order stood,
Or earth received her frame,
From everlasting Thou art God,
To endless years the same.Thy Word commands our flesh to dust,
"Return, ye sons of men:"
All nations rose from earth at first,
And turn to earth again.A thousand ages in Thy sight
Are like an evening gone;
Short as the watch that ends the night
Before the rising sun.The busy tribes of flesh and blood,
With all their lives and cares,
Are carried downwards by the flood,
And lost in following years.Time, like an ever rolling stream,
Bears all its sons away;
They fly, forgotten, as a dream
Dies at the opening day.Like flowery fields the nations stand
Pleased with the morning light;
The flowers beneath the mower's hand
Lie withering ere ‘tis night.Our God, our help in ages past,
Our hope for years to come,
Be Thou our guard while troubles last,
And our eternal home. -
Oh, JO, welcome! I love that hymn! I love to hear the men's deep vioces echo "It is Well"
I will add a pic for you.

-
kcl, I will find a picture for your hymn as well. My break is over though. A bit later.
-
How about this one for kcl?

-
Fuzzy little caterpillar,
Climbing up a tree,
He wiggled once, he wiggled twice,
He wiggled right at me.
I put him in a box,
Now don't you move I said.
But when I opened up the box,
It was a butterfly instead.
Now, I could never make one.
No matter how I try,
'Cuz only God in Heaven,
Can make a butterfly!"
-
JO, I'd love to hear the story behind your hymn, it's beautiful!
-
Jo- I love that song.
Barbe - the song was written by a man named Spafford. His family was to make a trip to England and at the last minute he couldn't travel with them. His wife and daughters left alone and he would later join them. The ship sunk on its journey. He received a cable from his wife, "Safe. Alone." A little while later as he traveled over the spot where the ship sank, he wrote "It Is Well With My Soul". Very moving story and song for me.
Meese-LOVED the caterpillar and butterfly! Right now I feel like God is changing me so much, but someday I'm going to be a butterfly!
-
How did he receive a cable from his wife if the ship sank?
-
Grace, I hope you slept well.
-
barbe, his wife was one of the survivors, "alone" meant that his four daughters did not survive.
-
I've written at length about the butterfly picture that I 'captured' and have kept as my avatar around here. I realize that I don't know where that writing is any more. LOL. And I think that most of you are 'new' enough to me, that you probably weren't around when I wrote it anyhow.....
To make a long story short I took a bike ride several summers ago and was captivated by the glorious flowers outside of a B&B. I was brand new to cameras/photography and was talking to myself about making certain that the sun was behind me, and switch the camera to close up foliage mode and -- just as I was about to click to take the picture, the monarch landed on my 'zoomed-in' spot. Seriously.
I ended up taking 11 pictures of it as it walked around the center of the unique sunflower.
It was THE experience that hooked me on wanting to learn more about photography.
Thinking back on how those two minutes have changed my life is amazing. It was as though heaven had orchestrated the entire serendipitous moment. It made the 18 mile ride back home, click by in the blink of an eye.

eph3, thanks for asking, I am doing just fine. I frequent the topic "Thinking Outloud". During the day I work and we are not allowed to chat online, although I do peep in.
