purplemb,
Glad you posted the picture link here! I still don't quite get how it all comes together, but maybe if I had one in my hand while looking at the pictures, it would make sense.
starzhere,
purplemb kindly sent me the pictures in the link, but I haven't posted them yet. I will soon!
Edited to say I will hold off posting the photos on BreastFree.org as they are still confusing to some, but I'm glad they're available here.
-
purplemb,
That is very helpful! Thank you for continuing to try until you found a way to post the pictures! I may be shopping for some more poofies now!

Okay, I get the first two pictures, but when I get to the third one, I'm not sure WHAT I'm supposed to pull through WHAT. It looks like you put your arm through the entire length of the poofy stuff (we're talking several miles here!) and then...what? Do you grab the rolled part and pull it through the whole length of poofy stuff?
That's what I tried, and then I tried twisting it, but once it was twisted I couldn't figure out how on earth to roll it any more, since there was no longer a "hole" to roll it through.
Any thoughts on what I might be missing?
Thanks!
Binney -
brilliant.!
thank you so much.. i suppose you could just cut it a bit to make less than an A cup?
-
Yes that does help!
That is what I am doing, but for some reason I'm having the same problem as Binney with rolling it and pulling it through, again, after the first twist. How many times are you rolling, pulling it through and twisting to get to the end?
I'll have to keep playing with it. I'm determined, since I'm going to Hawaii this summer. I finally have a suit I like, now I need the foofiefoobie.
Thanks! I really do appreciate your patience.

Ok... let's see if I can explain.. you roll, then you can twist... and yes you put your whole arm in.. and twist..then just start rolling again... increasing the size of the snowball.. by rolling some more... then stick your arm thru and pul it back thru... and twist.. and so on.. untill the end... ( you can do this a few times.) I think I do it 4 or 5 times... the twisting just ties it from pulling apart.. I hope this helps with the pictures...
son't give up, it took me a few times to get one to look just right.. but once sewn in a swimsuit cup.. it looked pretty good...
good luck..
one poofy = size A.. at least the ones from Walmart...
-
purplemb,
I'm wondering if, when you say roll again, like a snowball, do you mean just rolling the whole ball, but the first time you are rolling it around the edges? If I am understanding you, then I think I may be able to do this.
My other question is, isn't it rough against the skin after you sew it into a suit? Or do you have a cover behind it? I'm sorry if I am making this more complicated than it needs to be, and I really do appreciate your patience with us all!

I just trim the puff to about the size of the other boob and safety pin it inside my suit. I used 2 of them last summer and we go to the pool 6 days a week....
Actually, it wasn't rough against my skin, I didn't even notice it at all...
-
I hate to keep being a pain. The first two steps, the rolling and pulling it through are clear. What is not clear for me is twisting and rolling again. I do the twist, but then there's no way to roll. I'm just wondering if anyone else who has made one can chime in.
Oh, and I thank God that my biggest problem, regarding breast cancer, is trying to figure out how to make a poofyfoobie.
Thanks!

yup just roll it like a snow ball..
the twist just helps it from unraveling.. after you pull it through, twist it.. then start rolling again, just ignore the fact you twisted.. you roll the twist right in...you just keep making the snowball bigger..
I started using the twist , because the first couple, became very loose after swimming with my grand kids.. kind of unravels inside itself?.. the one I have now has lasted a year and a half, I stich it righ in and leave it.. I rinse it out after each use, but it dries fast, I too don't notice it being scratchy.. but I make sure I get the nice soft ones at WalMart.. some poofies are scratchy from the start..
I f you have any questions that I might be able to answer PM me and I will give you my phone #.. we can talk you thru it..or jsut sned me the poofies and I will whip them out.. takes me about 15 minutes a pair...the fastest boob maker in the east...lol..
take care and keep on rolling
Mb the nut on the hill
or if you make it to PINKSTOCK I can show you how...

Mb, I am so grateful for your patience with all this. I feel like an idiot, not being able to figure this out. But, with your latest suggestions, I think I can finally get it done!
None of this would be relevant if I hadn't found a decent swimsuit on sale last fall. I haven't worn a swimsuit for, oh, 10 years or so--just visualize those "Cathy" comic strips and you'll know why. But now I not only have a suit ... I'll have a foob to put in it.

This is very interesting to me. I am going to florida for a week in March. I love my old bathing suit, and want to wear it. What is a poofy, and what part of the store would I look for it? Thanks
-
They sell them everywhere, but at Walmart they're 98 cents. They're those fluffy things you soap up for bathing. Some women cut them so they're flat on the back and put them in their bathing suits, because they dry fast. Purplemb unties them and turns them into the item that is pictured above.
That's what I'm trying to figure out.

What a great idea! We're planning on a cruise in March, so I bought poofies at Wal-Mart today (actually 2/$1.00!), came home and found this forum! Once I caught on that the first roll must be the edges, then twist, pull through so it's inside out, twist, then roll the whole ball (the two sides are now together and you're rolling sidewise), it went great. I overlapped the two at a twist and kept going for a bigger size. Mine is a little on the round side instead of oblong, so I think I'll go back to Wal-Mart (another day!) and get some more for practice. I'm wondering if I couldn't just use them in a regular bra, too! Thank-you so much for sharing! The pictures helped too!
-
2 hands.. I sew mine right in the swimsuit cup and it forms nicely... you could use them where ever.. I have used mine for workouts where I sweat alot...
anyway.. I even have one in a bikini top... hmmm.
take care and enjoy the trip

Thanks so much for posting the extra pictures. I tried making them a couple of months ago and they didn't work out, now I'll try again. I have to work in our small pecan orchard during the summer, and Texas heat is terrific. I was wearing some of those stuffable forms with the layer of foam in the front, but they would get drenched and felt hot. I think these puffies will be so great and so much cooler, and easy to wash out. Thanks for taking the time to help us all!

I totally get the first part of the rolling and the twisting and pulling through. At that point I'm lost.
I can't figure out how to roll again. 2hands is saying that after you pull it through the first time that you roll sideways. MB is that what you do? I really don't want to give up on this.
O.K. I edited this. I tried rolling sideways like 2 hands said and now I have something that looks what you did, but lordy, I think I might need to roll 3-4 of the poofies to make a D cup.
2hands, what size cup did you make with the two poofies? I wear a 34D, so the cup would be smaller with a bigger band size.

starzhere - I'm guessing about a B since I usually wear a C and when I tried the one I made, it's a little too small. I don't see why you couldn't keep adding to get the size you want! Anyone else with ideas?
-
ok.. I have made different sizes.. one poofy =A two =B and so on.. just keep adding them and rolling, once agin I stitch them right ot the swim cup, which helps form them also.. I have used them in sports bra's for woking out and in the summer...and yup they don;'t soak up the sweat, and keep you dry....
thanks for all the extra input, you guys are great..
MB....PS if you are in my neck of the woods try to visit PINKSTOCK... in the get together thread!!
-
I'm still experimenting, but this is definitely going to work for me.
The first one I made was too tight and firm. So, I'm experimenting with making it softer. I think I will only need to use 1 1/2 to get my size. My bathing suit is a regular Landsend one and it fits straight across with an underwire bra, which I need to lift my natural breast. I will still stitich in the poofy.
Isn't it wonderful, what little things make us happy? !
MB, is I lived closer, I would definitely visit.

wonder if the poofy inventor ever thought of it as a breast replacement !!!
thank you poofy inventor.. I now swim all the time...

What a marvelous example of thinking outside the box!
-
This is brilliant! Just one question - last year after my mast healed, I went swimming and what I did was pin a poofy in my regular suit for the pool. This was great until I came out of the pool. The poofy kind of deflated, so I was flat on that side. Not exactly the idea. How do you keep this from happening?
Now I didn't roll the poofy or anything, just used it pretty much as is.
-
Unique, I roll it so its tight and sew it in.. I think it keeps its shape then,

It's swimsuit season, so I'm bumping this thread. I tried on half a dozen swimsuits today, and each time I thought about what the suit would look and feel like with a swim poofy on one side.
