triple negarive diagnosis

I am BRCA1, path report indicated ER+, Stage 1, grade 3 IDC; however Oncotype test score was 52 and indicated I was ER-. I am really confused - am I triple negative or not? My oncologist insists I am ER+, but won't explain his reasoning; as we live in a rural area it would be difficult to get a 2nd opinion. Has anyone else had these confusing results?

Do you have copies of your path reports? You are entitled to them, and that may clear up some confusion. The oncotype test is only done on hormone positive tumors. I am triple neg and could not use the that test. You might be able to have your slides sent to a cancer center, and get another pathologist's opinion without going in person. I would ask if I had any doubts. Your doctor should be able to go over the whole report with you, and explain it so you understand everything.

My Path report also showed er+/pr-, her2- after BMX. My oncotype also came back high ay 39 and also showed I as er-/pr- and her2-. I go to a big cancer center and after finishing chemo (AC x4 and Taxol x12) I wasn't convinced I would benefit from AI's My onc. discussed it with other Onc's and memebers of the team and felt I should try Arimidex. I havent' started it yet because I just finished Chemo on 1/28/10 and wanted a few weeks to see what Feeling "somewhat normal" feels like before I start something new. My Onc also said if I have alot of side effects then she will stop it.... This was a local recurrance for me also and the 1st time in 2008 I tested ER+/PR+, Her2-. So I have also been somewhat confused whether I'm triple neg... It does worry me so I can totally relate to being confused. Good Luck....
