Hi Ladies, I was wonder if any of u ladies that are premenapausal have had your ovaries removed or the shot to suppress them instead of taking the tamoxifen. Would the shot to stop ovary production have less chance of stroke ect than tamoxifen has?

hi, i was diagnosed with ER+/PR+ BC and had radiation and the injection for ovary suppression. and exestrane a trial drug instead of tamoxifen. i decided to have my ovaries and fallopian removed instead of having the injection every month for five years. that was in dec 2009. it has taken me this long to feel like my old self, except for the flushes/sweats . these are still bad, hopefully they will decrease with time.

I think having your ovaries out would be less of a chance of having a stroke than taking tamoxifen.  Tamoxifen is hard on your body.. but then so is hysterectomy.   The risk of stroke is fairly low with tamox- but if that is what you are worried about I would probably have the hyster.   Wishing you peace and health.   Tami
