about that sigh
i found out my little bro has leukemia.. i'm bummed. This is my 2nd brother to have leukemia. Out of 9 kids, 3 of us have had cancer. He's 41 and has sole custody of his five kids.
he should be fine but I know he's hurting today, just having found out yesterday. They said they caught it early but who knows what that means?

Oh, s**t apple, that is crummy news.
It sounds as though it is treatable, though, I don't know much about Leukemia.
Let us know when you find out more, ((((hugs)))) for your brother. (and for you too)
-
I am sorry Apple. I hope that "catching it early" will give your little brother some comfort during this tough time. He is blessed to have you to go through his own ca journey.
Gentle hugs,
Lexi

So sorry to hear this -- I'll be praying for a complete cure for him!

Sending gentle hugs, for your brother
(((((( to you too ))))))
-
I'm sorry, apple. Best to you & your brother.
-
I'm really sorry to hear the news ((((HUGS)))) headed your way for you and your brother.
-
So so sorry-hugs and prayers.
-
Very best wishes for a complete recovery for him. That must be so stressful, with all the parental responsibility too.
I am sorry. Just like you said, a bit strange with the high cancer rate at a relatively young age. Could it be something in the environment (maybe in childhood)?
-
((((((Apple and brother))))))
So sorry to hear your news. Hoping he makes a total and rapid recovery.
-
i feel worse about him than I did about myself. I never let on to my family how difficult my cancer has been.. they think i don't even 'feel' it.. but i know inside how hard it's been and I feel for my bro, remembering those first months.. planning my funeral and that carp.
We are a lot alike. In fact when I buzzed my head we could have been twins. We're about 9 years apart. (me older).
he posted on my facebook page -
-
I am so sorry.
-
What a hard blow for him, you and the rest of the family. Nothing about this is fair. I'm sorry.
-
Apple, I am so sorry to read about your younger brother. Your family certainly has been hit hard by Ca,
anyway, there are different types of Leukemia, and if he has the one that's most typical for his age group it is very treatable. He should be OK. I know it is scary, but the unknown is the worst.
you're a good sister.
-
Oh, apple, what horrible news. Wish I could give you some teddy bear hugs.

Apple....
Oh I was so hoping this wasn't going to be the case.....seems too much for one family to deal with.
Keeping him in my novenas that all will be fine. You are such a great sis.

this is kinda cute - i really enjoy seeing siblings who look alike (isn't my buzz handsome?)
-
Apple, I'm so sorry you and your brother are having to face this new cancer news. There is so much emotion that goes with this, as you have said. Holding your hand through cyberspace. Hugs.
We must have been writing at the same time. I just saw those fantastic pictures. My goodness you both are such good looking young people. There is a strong resemblance, no doubt about it. Sending strong vibes to your brother!
-
Mary/Apple - Cancer sucks. I am sorry. If he is half as strong as you he will do just fine - this is not to say that you didnt "feel" the cancer journey and that you werent scared. I remember your earlier days in this jourrney fairly well and know it wasnt easy but I also know you put your head down and kept moving forward - and sometimes that is all you can do. You did it and so will he - he, however, will have the benefit of having your understanding.
I pray for you and him and us all.
-
Oh, apple. {{{HUGS}}}. Well, you know the emotional pain, so do what you can to ease the physical stuff so he can deal with it. If he lives close enough, have family dinners so he doesn't have to cook (or even come...just send the kids over, lol). Make a run to the food store for him. If he's not close enough for those things, send things to keep the kids busy while he takes a nap...videos, reading books, coloring books and crayons. Things they can only have if they are quiet while Daddy sleeps.

Someone on another thread said that hugs like that }} are angel wings.

fortunately his kids are getting older.. one's in college, he has 2 extraordinarily responsible high school girls, and a 5th and 8th grader.
They've done remarkably well without their mom..
We grew up in the days of buy your own chlordane at the store to zap bugs

Best wishes for a healthy recovery for your little bro!
-
Apple,
I'm so sorry to hear about your brother. He sounds like such a wonderful person to handle life as a single parent and now have to go through this. I hope they are indeed right and it's been caught early. Please let us know what we can do.
I'm one of nine myself. I'm a twin, and we are number 7/8. I am the only one out of all of us who's had cancer. I hope that it stays that way!
Hugs
Bobbie

Apple
As I have mentioned on the other thread I am praying for your brother! I wanted to add that we have a 41 year old friend (female) dxed with leukemia 6 years ago and I believe it to be a bit more farther along. She is doing great and was a young Mom as well.
Your pictures are awesome, he is such a cutie and you look like twins! Just remind him what you have been through and as hard as it is, you can come out the other side and have blessings just as you are now helping so many and so involved with your playing and new home project.
God Bless both of you and your family!
-
You're both adorable! Apple, I'm sorry to hear this news but ever hopeful he'll do just fine. You're both in my thoughts and prayers.
-
Apple, Sending positive energy to you and your brother. Your pics are great...you have the same beautiful smile...your brother is a handsome guy. Thanks for posting them...it is nice to put faces with stories. I so know this is a difficult time. Keep us posted...we stand together.
-
Apple, I'm so sorry your brother is going through this now. I know you'll be both a comfort and a help to him.
Leah
-
Apple, I'm so sorry. I'll add my prayers as well.

Hi Apple - the resemblance is really remarkable - especially with your shorter hair. I think some forms of leukaemia were amongst the first class of cancers to be found to be really treatable by the new targeted therapies - Glivac (Gleevec???) is something that sticks in my mind as something that came out years before anything in the BC domain - apart from tamox - so all digits crossed that you and your gorgeous sibling can be around for a very long time - rivals in seeing who can beat this the fastest
