Bones mets would show up in first?

Options

I am just wondering if there is one particular area bone mets would be most likely to recur if they were going to. Is it the spine, ribs or could it be anywhere? I was shoveling snow a week ago and now my right arm elbow and wrist are tender.Naturally, I start worrying about bone mets when pain lasts more than a day or two. My cancer was on the left side- don't know if that makes a difference. Also today my hips are sore. I do have a little arthritis in my hip anyway but I am a chronic worrier. How do you know when pain is more than it should be? Thanks!

Kd, I have the same questions.  Also, if the mets are in the bone, is the pain constant or can it be intermittent?  Is pain the first sign?

    Hey kd,

Mine is in my spine only and it best stay there. LOL. Anytime you have symptoms that are worrisome for 2 weeks or are severe you should have it checked out.

Pain was my first symptom but many who are found to have bone mets have no symptoms at all. The tumor on my spine showed up on a regular xray because it was large but that isnt always the case. Some have injuries or illness and get scans or xrays and its found that way also.  If I truly fear a pain is mets I see my onc, as opposed to my general practioner who may miss something and has in the past. I hope its nothing...Hugs, Mazy

That sounds completely like an overuse soreness.  My wrist was sore after shoveling as well -- its a motion we don't typically use.

It does sound like overuse to me. But give it the 2 week rule - if it still hurts in 2 weeks have it checked out. Unless it is completely unbearable then do it sooner. Cancer is a sneaky bastard and doesn't just start in a particular place. It shows up where ever the he!! it want to.
