Well today I went to see the BS she reviewed my mammo which was clear. She checked me and found some problem areas. She did a ultrasound she found and area that was very painful and showed increased blood flow. I'm having a MRI Wed. She said it could be one of two things BC or hormal changes. Will b doing different test to find out for sure. Did any one else have pain in breast and was BC? Should I be worried?

It is a myth that BC doesn't hurt.  That isn't always true.  On the other hand, just because it does hurt does not mean that it is BC.  Some women on this forum will tell you -- yes, it hurt and it was BC and some will say --- yes it hurt but it was not BC.  Some will tell you that had no pain and it was BC.  There is no rule.  The only way to find out is to investigate it further.  Then you will know for sure.

Should you worry?  Worrying does nothing but having said that, I know you will worry.  You wouldn't be normal if you weren't worried.  We have all been right there where you are now --- not knowing what is going on with your body.  Just remember, most of the time, it turns out to be nothing.  Get those tests done and then try and keep yourself busy while you wait to get results.  Let us know what you find out.  Either way, we will help you get through it.

I had a shooting zap type pain in my nipple of my breast that had breast cancer before I was diagnosed. I tossed the thought aside thinking I had heard that breast cancer doesn't hurt but like Faith said, that isn't always true. in my case it was most definitely not true.

While you are waiting you might to read or reread all the topics covered in the top heading of this page.  Great, easy to understand information.   Reading all the topics wil give you an understanding of the different tests, procedure etc & you'll be better prepared to ask questions.

     Take care!

It's very good that you are having more imaging done.  You need an answer.  Pain is not a good indicator one way or another. Pain is so unreliable, but your upcoming MRI should really help to clarify. I'm glad you're doing that test.

I'm just glad you have a doc that is taking you through all the scans and not stopping at the US.  Hopefully it is nothing and a clean MRI will rule out a lot.  I did have pain -- it ebbed and waned with my cycle but it was definitely much worse than the normal hormonal pain I used to get when my breast swelled during the month.

I have never gotten MRI results the same day.  The radiologist needs to view and interpet the images to write up his report.  I've always been given the report as a result of a visit with a doc.  Usually a day or two after.  Then I ask for a copy and keep it in my home records.

Hormonal changes always affected my "bad" breast more.  I have multiple cysts in the breast and it is very dense.  So the discomfort was always stronger on the left breast.  But in the couple month before my dx the discomfort went up multiple notches.  Felt like it didn't fit in the bra cup anymore and the nipple would get extremely sensitive.  If I touched it wrong I was saying "ow".  Had my mammo been a week earlier there was no way they could have squished it to get an image.  But by the next week it was fine.  I was beginning to wonder if I just didn't have a good fitting bra!
