Neuropathy suggestions?
I finished my chemo about 5 wks ago and am now doing 33 sessions of rads. Since about the 4th cycle of chemo, I noticed some neuropathy in my left foot. Can someone give me some suggestions (vitamins, supplements) about what help with neuropathy? It's not disabling, just a considerable annoyance when I walk too much or stand on my feet too long.

It was suggested to me by two internists to take B6 (50mg) daily and glutamine. My onc said it would not help nor hurt me. His advice was just to live with it. Ug. Anyway, I tried the glutamine and got really really nauseated, so I quit taking it. I have continued with the B6. My neuropathy has lessened, but it is hard to say if it is due to the B6 or the fact that I ended Taxol treatments 3 weeks ago.
I wish you the best. Neuropathy stinks!

Acupunture really helped me..
but now I do take Lyrica and it works

R-Lipoic Acid, Quercetin, high B-complex vitamins may help.
Google diabetic neuropathy for additional approaches and dosages. The Lipoic acid can lower blood sugar in high doses which may be good for you unless you tend to be hypoglycemic.
Good luck

I just met my new oncologist today (moved to new state) and he suggested B complex vitamins and glutamine. I'm going to give them a try. I completed chemo in July and still have neuropathy in both feet, mostly the toes. He says if I still have neuropathy a year post-chemo that it might be permanent.
Hugs and good luck!

I've been taking subliminal B6 & B12. I got these from a company called TriVita. I've had 8 chemos. It has worked quite a bit.

This is interesting. I have neuropathy in both feet, which I had for about 2 years before my diagnosis. I am not a diabetic. I had a complete neuro workup and nerve testing, and NO one could find anything wrong. So B vitamins, etc., might actually work for this? What if it's not from chemo, but from an unknown cause? I would sure love to get rid of it. I trip over things, and have to be so careful on stairs

how about paraneoplastic syndrome?

Gryffinsong: I've heard the same thing re: a year. My Onc told me that sometimes with TC it can take 18 to 48 months before you know how permanent the neuropathy can be, don't know what regimen you had..

I have considerable neuropathy in my hands and feet. It hit about halfway throughmy Taxol infusions. I've been done with chemo since mid January. My onc prescribed Gabapentin. I've had a modest level of relief from it. (It did, however, seem to relieve most of my night sweat misery---Go figure!!!)

I am in a study testing Acetyl L-Carnitine vs a placebo. No idea which I got. But passing on as something you might mention to your doctor. Just fine so far, neuropathy-wise and about half way through Taxol.

I've heard of great results with glutathiane powder for neuropathic pain.
