    Good luck!

Take a good rest after the surgery and start exercise after your doctor says OK.

    Princess-

I would like to share my experience with DCIS.  I, too am a small breasted woman (maybe 34 A).  I also had calcs on mammo and after biopsy, I was sent for an MRI.  Well it lit up like a christmas tree.  I then went to get an ultrasound to view the breast.  It turned out that the few calcs that I had was only the tip if the amount of DCIS that I had.  I chose, after consulting with the breast surgeon to have a mx.  Because of the extensiveness of the DCIS, the drs did not even consider saving the nipple.  After my mx, I thought that I was fine - then came the pathology.  I had 8mm of IDC.  Based on many factors: oncotype dx score (low), small size of tumor, stage and grade of tumor - I did NOT have chemo.  Rads, yes (boy was plastic surgeon surprised!)

Basically what I guess I'm trying to say, you will not know if you will have to do chemo until all is said and done - biopsy, surgery, pathology (stage, grade) - as everyone's dx is different, so will everyone's treatment.

    Good luck and hugs!

    Trish

Good luck to you! I am sending you (and Grandma, sounds like she'll need it) well wishes for today. I hope your surgery went well and that you're able to relax when you get home.  Please update us, I am waiting to hear how it goes. Mine's next week, and I need to hear every experience out there.....

Thanks everyone.  All went well.  I haven't needed any pain meds at all!  I did end up with a migraine but I think it was from the GA.  Took Imitrex and that did the trick.  I really think I feel off from the GA and not the procedure.  I am a bit sore, bruised, etc  but really not as bad as I  had feared.  I am very anxious for my final path report which should take 3-5 days.  My Mom did fine with the kids and my best friend is here now doing dinner for us!

I am so happy that you are feeling good and not really sore.  I was shocked when I had my lumpectomy and they tool out 9 cm's and I was not sore at all either.  I just went in on the 12th for a 2nd surgery as they found another spot through a mammogram and it is one month later and I still feel the same........shocked that I am not really sore!  I LOVE IT!!!  Please stay strong and busy so you do not drive yourself crazy waiting for the results.  Please keep us posted when pathology gets back to you.  Praying that the results are great!
