Congratulations to all the "finishers". It feels so great to be SE free.

To encourage you gals: I am 7 weeks out of my last chemo (Dec 21st) since the real last one (Jan 14th) I could not receive due to an allergic reaction developed between #5 and #6. AND I FEEL GREAT, the only SE hanging on my body are the hot flashes, even if it feels weird, it is nothing compared to the rest, no? My hair is growing pretty fast... each week, I see a difference and now, when I wake up in the morning, my left side seems to be "undone" :)

Tomorrow, I am having a partial mastectomy on my left side (I was under neo adjuvant chemo). My biggest fear is my post surgery reaction (psychologically I mean) as now, I feel calm about the lost of 1/4 of my breast (but still, I am afraid that afterwards, I will not be that calm). To be honest, after 5 months of diagnosis, I am more than ready to get rid of the crab... and go to radiations...

Again, good luck to all of you going through treatments this week.

I will be posting here as there are no forum for partial mastectomy on the surgery side and I feel kind of an outsider :)

I think Mac Daddy would be a cool name, a little of both!  Mac for short.  :)

Alicia and Hopbird congratulations on finishing chemo!

I hope to join the club tomorrow, burt we are in the middle of blizzard here in DC. THe office said if they aren't opened tomorrow I can have my treatment on Friday, but I just want this done. I want my final smiley face tomorrow when it is due.

Good luck Catharis on your surgery.

Txstardust I am happy you are home and I hope you are feeling better.

Hope anyone else experiencing this blizzard is safe and has power in the house. I am so sick of the snow.

    Testing...

My profile line and diagnosis have been replaced by "session data."  Anyone know how to correct this?

Annoying that it's happening in the opening post too and every time I edit that, it adds another "session data."

Michele: sorry about that. I was just getting some funky code at the bottom of all my posts. The board admin sorted it out.

Just wanted to say hi to everyone and here's hoping that you're all out there busy with life, and that's why it's been quiet!  Blood counts still low on my end, so I'm still stuck at home.  I so wish I could go to class, but I don't want to take the chance.  They should be up by the beginning of next week, so I can go to class on Tuesday, hooray!

Now I just have to prepare for a small sleepover that I had promised my youngest that she could have tomorrow.  I'll just hang out in my bedroom, or maybe I'll banish them to her bedroom - that sounds more like it!

Anyway, have a great rest of the day!

    Peace to all...

    Hi All!

It is quiet on this group today!  I hope everyone is doing well and just enjoying life!

I go away on vacation tomorrow and so I won't be checking in as often - I will be thinking of everyone while I soak up some Vitamin D wearing my new swimsuits!

I went to see my ONC for my first post chemo check up.  He examined me and could not feel any thickening (neither can I) so it is gone just like the surgeon said!

I asked the ONC how I would know if the chemo worked.  He said that if I'm still sitting in the chair opposite him in 3 years without complaint then it must have worked.  He said that we need to be vigilant for the next 24 months and keep following up.

I asked him about an alternative to Tamoxifen and he said that I could have my ovaries and tubes taken out laporoscopily by a gyno.  Then I would be considered post menopausal and could take another drug called Ramoxifen (sp?).  Apparently it's a variation of Tamoxifen but with fewer side effects.

Has anyone else been advised of this?

Anyway he is referring me to a gyno for a consult on the removal of my ovaries and tubes.

I see my ONC again in April - nothing else to do until then.  I was a bit surprised thought I might have a scan or two but he says not at this time.

Oh well - I better get back to my packing!

    Hugs to all!

    Marie

    Good Morning everyone!

Beautiful day here in New England - Bright and shiny! Go for my trial run today for rads and have to ask about an LE specialist -my hand swole (is that even a word?) up yesterday but settled down after I took bracelets off but still definitely swollen - ugh. Tis the gift that keeps on giving.

Oh and even for us ladies that get a little "dry" there are a ton of hot things to do! Don't worry for those who get drafted into menopause-its not the end of intimacy........yayCool

    Have a great day! Valerie

lainieo: Congratulations! Kiss You must have had an early start this morning. Hope you've dug out of all that snow and it didn't make it too difficult for you to travel this morning. Beautiful blue skies here today and the big thaw is on, though we only had about 7" total.
