Progression of Symptoms

Hi all!  I have a question about symptoms and how quickly they appear.  I understand that not everyone has the same symptoms but as the disease progresses would more symptoms appear?

I have a sister that has been experiencing a red breast--not flaming red-really more like tiny red blood vessels that are visible through the skin.  She has been to several doctors, all of who say it is a skin thing.  This has been going on for about 8-10 months and no additional signs have shown up--no swelling, no pain, no orange peel skin, just the continued redness,  During this amount of time, would more symptoms show up or would it get worse?

Thanks for your time.

IBC is extremely aggressive.  If no changes have occurred in 8-10 months, it is EXTREMELY unlikely that it is IBC.  If she has had scans (in particular PET) that did not show anything, I would definitely trust the doctors on this one.

Sean is probably right --- it probably is not IBC.  But, just wondering.  Have they done a punch biopsy of the skin?  If not, why not request that for peace of mind?

I will try to get her to ask her doctor for a punch biopsy--the biggest problem is she is terrified of doctors and it was really quite a task to even get her to go in the beginning.  The doctor didn't offer to do any kind of biopsy so of course she didn't ask.  I will work on her to get her to request one.  I really don't know alot about IBC, other than it is awful, but I would think after that amount of time surely she would be having swelling and pain or some other symptoms than breast redness.
