Sounds like it may be "atypical" (not normal ... but not necessarily cancer) cells.  What did the doctor say?

Early stage is VERY treatable!   And so you know, most women who get breast cancer have NO family history.  For those that do, it increases your individual chance of getting it.  If it is breast cancer, you want to know:

    How large is the tumor(s)?

    is it Estrogen Positive (ER+)

    is it Progestrone Positive (PR+)

    is it HER2+?

    what stage might it be?

what does the doctor think the next step should be ?   lumpectomy (cut it out) or treatment with drugs or radiation?

    start there.

    Hi

well by mammogram and ultrasound show   11 Mm so around 1.1 Cm,

BS when she  see her Mammogram and ultrasound she say look bening and core Biopsy show Lesion with atypical ductual Hiperplasia so she want Lumpectomy to be sure is not DCIS i guess. But her lumpectomy will be en 4 more weeks. so Hope the second Biopsy show same thing and not DCSI anyway what i read here if is DCIS still early i hope so. My mom get her mammogram every year since 2003 she is 53 and this is first time show something on her Mamo, so when she get her in Agust 2008 don't show nothing but now in January 2009 show this lump, she take 16 month later due to insurance problems.

thank you everybody , this group is so great.

I had changed microcalcifications which led to core biopsy.  This resulted in excisional biopsy to take out the benign papillary lesions and severe ductal hyperplasia was found in three areas which the surgeon also took out.  Biopsy was sent out to make sure it wasn't DCIS but it came back as just the atypical hyperplasia ductal and lobal.  My followups will be alernating MRI and ultrasound and it was recommended I see an onc for Tamoxifen.  I had this all done in Dec. so I'm giving myself a break before making a decision about the Tamoxifen.

I too had atypical ductal hyperplasia.  It is not cancer. It is considered abnormal but not cancerous cells. The cells are 'pre-cancerous" but they don't know if they will turn into cancer.  Most likely they will want to remove more breast tissue to be sure they got it all out.  You will need to be monitored at least every six months with MRIs and mammograms (alternate between the two).  Some doctors recommend you also take tamoxifen as a preventive measure.

You are considered higher risk for breast cancer in the future because of this diagnosis.  That is why they will want to monitor you closely.
