Bone Scan

Options

I had a bone scan in Aug. that was negative.  A question:  if there is mets to the liver, lungs, etc. would the bone scan have showed any of that?  Or do I need a pet scan to show mets to those areas????

    I think a CT/Pet scan would show mets to the organs.

    I am having some on & off pain in the upper right abdomen and upper back pain.  I will call my onc. tomorrow.  I have convinced myself it is liver mets.  The abdomen pain just started about 2 weeks ago but the back pain has come & gone for the past 7 mos.  That's why I had the bone scan in Aug.

    Somerset72 - perhaps your upper right abdominal pain is a gall stone? This happened to me. For some people, the pain radiates to the upper back. One symptom that shows a sensitive gall bladder is if you get pain in the upper right abdomen (just under your rib cage) after eating anything fatty - for me, ice-cream or a donut from Dunkin Donuts ALWAYS caused this pain A sonogram showed my gall stone - I had the gall bladder removed last summer during my abdominal hernia repair - and I'm soooo happy it's gone now.........good luck with any future scans - I hope anything that shows up is not related to BC.

    Hi swimangel;

    I had my gallbladder removed years ago, so I know it's not gallstones.  I don't know what else it could be in this area but liver???

    Somerset - how are you? I read somewhere even if your gall bladder has been removed, you could still have a blocked bile-duct leading from the liver.......which could cause pain. I hope you get a scan soon to find out what's causing your pain!

    I'm doing good, still having very mild pain on & off.  See new onc.on mar. 10.  Will post what he says to do.
