Suzanne Somers has changed her diagnosis

How is Suzanne these days?

I'm all for alternative and complimentary therapies, along with conventional medicine for cancer. I saw her most recent Larry King interview, and she just sounds like she doesn't know what she's talking about. What the heck is "whole body cancer"? She can't even use medical terminology properly. I also heard her say that she does not have BC,-does that mean she never had stage 1 either? I don't know what to believe when she is talking. Years ago, I used to like to listen to what she had to say...now, she just sounds like an uninformed "kook"!

She is full of sh*t! She's just trying to make $. What an a-hole!
-
I think she's more of an attention-whore. I think she's too ditzy to realize how coocoo she really is!

Somers is a natural born sales woman; exercise equipment, facemaster, cosmetics, foods, clothes, jewelry..you name it. Let her have at it. But.. she should never be pushing literature with misinformation at the expense of others.
To keep Knock Out interesting she starts off with pure fiction. Her whole body cancer might might make for a good drama and to set up the rest of the book. The naive non-cancer patient wouldn't be savvy enough to know better. She notes 3 cancers chemo helps with no mention of breast cancer.
What a crock...
Neoadjuvant chemo kicked my aggressive triple negative breast mass into oblivion leaving nothing but dead tissue. Yes, I believe in complimentary therapy as well. My highly published researcher/oncologist at one of the well-respected research hospitals is on a mission for a cure. I don't doubt that for a minute.. and there's plenty more out there in the labs like her. She also believes in additional therapies beyond chemo, surgery and rads. (SS's "poison, butcher & burn.") They conduct trials on these frequently. They also use reiki in surgery and are proponents for acupuncture therapy to help manage pain and other issues.
The only restriction during chemo was antioxidants by pill form which can interfere with the efficacy of therapy.
SS can make plenty of dough on peddling her other crap. Literature should NOT be on her sales list. Good she has no conscience and can sleep well at night.

Um. There is no magic bullet for this disease. We are all different and bc can change it's spots midway through treatment. Mine did. I was lucky as my onc was watching out for it. If it was as simple as Ms Somers appears to suggest then everyone would be cured. A healthy diet exercise etc is not novel. It's a way of fortifying the body to fight. I resent folks telling me to eat this or do that. I spent a miserable two days (well I'm a lightweight lol) trying to be vegan, and a few weeks cutting out dairy....result low calcium.

chemo may buy you a little time, but not without multiple side effects, which include secondary cancers! It’s hard to believe that with all the money and research that has gone into cancer research, that chemo is all we have in this 21st century! Ms. Somers had no node involvement with her breast cancer, luckily for her, she refused chemo, because back then, chemo was always recommended for her type of cancer. There is nothing wrong with suggesting that diet and exercise can improve your chances of reoccurrence, but like chemo, there are no guarantees! Chemo is not the “cure all”by any means, where it has helped some, it has also proven to be non effective for lots of people, those of whom you will never hear about.-I sit in the chair every week, questioning why I’m there, as I witness many who are having their 2nd and 3rd treatments fighting secondary cancers, most likely caused by chemo itself!, but your lovely oncologists will never confess this to you, “they are trained well!” As I am sure chemo kills cancer cells, chemo also kills good cells!,-and if good cells can recover, then so can cancer cells! It’s really an individual choice, but for those who battle with the choice of “should I, I or shouldn’t I,” it’s nice to know that for those that opt out, that there are people out there who can offer other options that may benefit you in some way.

chemo is NOT all we have in this 21st century. There are many new targeted therapies that have been pretty successful for some, but not not all, as is the way of cancer. I'm not knocking good nutrition and exercise, I do believe in that, but I think science is coming along, maybe slowly, but the old idea that you give chemo to everyone is an outdated one

Hmmm, interesting...is there a reason that you re-opened a thread whose last post was May 24, 2012?

It would help if ToniM would enter her profile info and make it public so we can better respond. After all, you are considering walking away from chemo. And I hate celebs who try to profit off of cancer even if they do have it themselves.

Toni what treatment plan are you on now?
