What was your treatment protocol?
Just wondering what everyone's total treatment protocol was and how many total herceptin infusions you had. Mine was AC x4, TH x 12 each week, then herceptin every 3 weeks up to now for a total of 17 infusions of herceptin so far.

After my lumpectomy and axillary node dissection in May 2008 for IDC, I had AC x 4, 12 weekly Taxol with concurrent Herceptin. Then continued on with Herceptin every 3 weeks which was supposedly to be for a year. Had 30 radiation treatments and then had a recurrence of my cancer as IBC this time while I was still taking Herceptin and radiation treatments. I was referred to MD Anderson and my oncologist there stopped my Herceptin (I had been on it from 11/08 - 7/09) and switched me to 6 months of Xeloda and Tykerb. I just stopped the Xeloda 3 weeks ago but will continue to take the Tykerb. He doesn't know yet how long he will leave me on it. At least a year or two and he said maybe indefinitely. Getting ready to have mastectomy and another axillary node dissection the day after tomorrow.

Faith316 - so sorry you are facing all of this again, good luck!

I had ACx4 & Taxol with Hercptin x 4....then followed with Herceptin every 3 weeks. Total Herceptin was 52 weeks.
-
I had TCH x 6, Herceptin every 3 weeks to complete a year. Zometa every 6 months for 3 years (then will probably switch to once/year) and tamoxifen - will take for at least 5 years.

Hi Blonde45
I had TCH, taxotere, cytoxan, X 4 and herceptin once a week for 12 weeks then once every three weeks to finish a year. Tamoxifen for 11 months, just started femara, will do femara for 4 years.
The protocol my onc used was from a study done out of Canada. I had a second opinion on the protocol and that onc said that the results were the same for taxotere cytoxan with herceptin as taxotere, carboplatin and herceptin. My onc felt that the carboplatin was more toxic than needed in my case. Hope he was right, sure don't want everything I did to be for nothing!!
I believe the most important ingredient in the cocktail of chemo is the herceptin, and I got plenty of that.

Dx at 39, multifocal IDC, 2.1cm & 1.5cm, WLE (partial mastectomey).
ACx4, Taxol X 12 weekly, Herceptin every 3 weeks continues for 52 weeks
Rads x 25 plus 5 boosters
Arimidex
Feel like I scored the jackpot in BC treatment!

I should have added one thing to my post above regarding treatment:
I also take simvistatin (generic Zocor). It greatly slows tumor growth in mouse models of both Her2+ cancer and Her2-, ER+ breast cancer.
Evidence that it reduces recurrence in humans: none; human studies are ongoing.
But what the heck, my only side effect is really good cholesterol levels.

I had TCH X 6 every three weeks....then Herceptin alone every three weeks for one year. I never counted the Herceptin treatments, but it was about 17 or 18.
Now I'm part of the Neratinib Clinical Trial and I take 6 pills every morning for one year.
-
I had the same as my2boys, except I'm not in a trial yet. PS doesn't want me to be on Neratinib until I'm finished with my stage 2 reconstruction (later this month).

I also had TCH x6 every three weeks along with Avastin as part of the BETH clinical trial. I started March 5, 2009 and have received 17 treatments so far. I had hoped that my 18th would be my last but I was scheduled for another one. I've heard from one other woman on another thread that she also had 19 - how common is that? I had counted out all my treatments and figured that 18 would be exactly one year. Maybe it's part of the trial? I also had 6 weeks of radiation beginning 2 weeks after the TCH ended and I began Femara in June and will be on that for 4 1/2 more years.
-
TCH for 6 treatments followed by 13 herceptins once every 3 weeks. Nonni (I maybe the one from the other thread) but I am also doing 19 herceptins total and I am not on the trial.
-
I had ACx4, taxotere + herceptin x 4, 33 rads, with herceptin ongoing every 3 weeks for one year.
