3.5cm tumour, 14 out of 24 nodes infected - is survival poss?

    My Tumor or the one I found was 5cm and already in the lymphnode area.But I had chemo first before the surgery.I was lucky to have what they call a complete response to chemo it killed and shrunk all 3 tumors according to pathology.I had the second breast removed as well as a safeguard.Lemongrove try to think positive thoughts its all doeable with help from family and friends.

    Actually, let me clarify. DCIS doesn't respond to chemo for anyone. That's why they do mastectomies in those early stage cases. I am definetly going to beat this mf'er and no one will tell me otherwise. But we all get the crazies sometimes, and it's great to have this as a resource.

    Hi Lemogrove,

     I just read the summary on the NHS website referring to the paper published in Nature Medicine

    which you cite above,  Importantly the article indicates that two genes - LAPTM4B and YWHAZ - may inhibit the response of anthracycline-based adjuvant chemotherapy for breast cancer, individuals with high expression of these genes still responded to platinum based drugs (not available in the UK) and taxanes (like taxol).

    Chemo most frequently includes a taxane element,  Hope this is of helpp.
