Crazy Itchy Foob (non-cancer side)

Options

It's been about a week and I am going crazy.  I have a constant feeling of ITCH on the right foob. It looks normal and feels normal.  If I try to itch it, there isn't any relief, nor is there a true/obvious source of the itchies.

Help?

You say foob, but is it real? Did you get both done? I can't remember....Undecided

I know I have some dry skin in some areas (like underarm) that is itchy.....keep us posted.

Sounds like you are experiencing phantom pain.  The nerves that used to go to the breast are still sending out signals to your brain, which doesn't know the actually tissue is gone.  Try rubbing AROUND the foob, rubbing on the skin that has feeling.  Rubbing just above or below the collarbone often helps relieve that kind of itching, at least it does for me.  Sometimes rubbing in the armpit on that side helps.   Rubbing is better than scratching because it's less likely to break the skin.  You're not alone with this phenomenon. Good luck!

My bilateral mastectomy was on June 15th of 2006! I thought (hoped) phantom pain would be gone by now.

After my gallbladder/hernia/fixing my way-screwed up belly surgery in November, I developed a heckuva itch above my belly button, too.  It's driving me crazy.

Of course after posting about the foob itch, my foob itch decided to go away.

Hi, I haven't been on the boards for a long time but read frequently.  I had the same itching and ignored it for a year or so, I ended up with lymphedema on that side, arm, arm pit, side, etc.  I have it and now wear a compression sleeve.  Sometimes I swell more there and wear a special butterfly thing with a sports bra and it helps reduce the itching and the swelling.  I also use cortaid cream in that area and benadryl when I can't stand it.  These are all under the supervision of a lymphedema specialist/therapist.  You might want to watch for it, it snuck up on me and before I knew it, I was stuck with it.  Shelley
