    Hello Everyone,

It has been a long time since I posted.  I was having really big computer issues, and work was over the top busy, and I had no time to post there either.  It was hard to be away from all of you for so long.  I will never get caught up on all of the posts so I am just going to jump back in and try to stay caught up moving forward.  It is good to see Meece and Shelia are here, and Cake and Debbie!!!!!  Labby, I haven't met you before, but I will keep a good thought for you as you go through surgery.  You have a great attitude, and I am sure you will be back on your feet in no time.

My daughter got the lead in her high school's musical, so we are super busy getting ready for that, but I will try to stay in touch, and get caught up with you all.  I am busy growing hair too, so I will post a new picture soon too!  Take care, and stay warm!

    Hugs,

    Susan

Susan...What a pleasant surprise. Did you take care of your computer issues? Are you back for good?

So happy for your daughters accomplishment. As we parents we feel so proud of our children.

When my daughter was 3rd grade looong time ago. In their spring concert she was one of the three girls who was chosen to play the clarinet solo. I took so many pictures that night.

    I'm glad you are back.

    Hugs

Hello everyone!  Can I jump in here to get your opinions?  I am waiting on my OncoType score.  I notice that there are several of you who have had chemo with my same diagnosis.  I believe that the method of treatment recommended for me at this time is going to be hormone therapy.  I am post-menopausal and maybe that makes a difference in that decision process.  I just want to be sure that I do everything that I can to help myself and be there for my family.  We all have that goal in mind, I'm sure!  I also have read that "you need to do what gives you peace in the future."  I am so new to all of this that I don't know what that would be!  I feel that I'm always going to have this little cloud over my head no matter what.  Any thoughts?  Thanks.

Welcome, ThereIsHope.  My dx is different, so I cannot comment on yours, but I am glad you picked up on the "you need to do what gives you peace in the future."

I don't know of anyone who has dealt with BC who doesn't have a little cloud over her head.  The trick is to put a silver lining on that cloud, and in many ways that is what we do here.  best of luck during your decision phase.

    Well put, Meece!

ThereIsHope, with your Dx being a Grade 3, chemo may get suggested to you, but a lot may depend on the Onco score.  It's hard to wait it out, I know.  Whatever your treatment, you will find many women who have been down the same road here. Of course we all say, "We've got to stop meeting like this!"

    Good Morning Ladies,

Yes, Shelia, I am back for GOOD! I have resolved my computer issues for now, (that was a nightmare) and I have further resolved to make some time in my busy life to post even if it has to be at work. I can't tell you how much I missed this community.

ThereIsHope, as others have said, the waiting is hard. I believe that the Oncotype test is based on good science and gives you the most information about your situation. Some people with grade 3 have low oncotypes, and some people with grade 1 have high oncotypes. There is no way to predict what the test will show. If you fall into the grey area, as many of us have, there is lots of support on these boards to help inform your decision. Best of luck!

Okay that is all I have time for, but I will see you all again soon!

    Hugs,

    Susan

{{Labby}} Sending hugs and prayers for strength - yes, you will overcome this too.

Cake - no, you're not crazy, you're doing what's best for you. I'm very happy I did the Bmx, am so glad the old girls are gone - it doesn't erase any worries, just lessens the worries somewhat, imho.

Hope everyone is well and warm. xo, Erika (Grakenmom)

Hello TherelsHope - Welcome! You will find  much support here and ladies willing to share info and experiences. The waiting game is one of the difficult aspects of this disease. Just take one day at a time. My Dx is not exactly like yours but there are some simliarities. I am post-meno too and  my onc put me on hormone therapy (no chemo). I could have gone the chemo route w/hormones afterwards, but I chose not to do that. You are wise in understanding that you need to do what will give you peace in the future. When you receive your Onco score, you will have more info to help you make this important decision. The Oncotype Dx will give you good infor about risk for recurrence. Any questions, PM me. The best to you. Chris

Hi brando1mar !  So good to hear from you, & WELCOME!  Sorry you have to find us this way, but we will always support & listen to you!  I am waaaaay older than you, & usually post on a different thread, but I found you here when I checked!  Check LOTS of threads, because you will find answers or suggestions to all your questions!  My ONC test was 20....which was Okay, & meant I didn't have to have chemo!   And I PLAN to live lots longer than what I already am!  (72)  Isn't it a bitch to get cancer?  But it's so much worse for you younger ones!   Especially to think of going through this with little children!  I was totally terrified when I heard I had cancer...But I plan on living 50 more years!  Wink  I think my tumor was 1.5cm....& found with an annual Mammogram!    Soft hugs!  Jeannette

ThereIsHope.....Welcome to our stage I Group. Our DX are not the same, sometimes even identical DX get different treatments.

I'm also Post Menopausal, had chemo, radiation and am on Femara almost 4 years now.

Because of my HER2+ status the treatment was little more aggressive. Tumor was1.2cm

    Did you have a lumpectomy?

You might need radiation or not.??

Whatever you are facing in your journey we will be here for you.

Welcome brando1mar...So sorry I missed your post on Sunday.

Yesterday was last day of your treatment. Graduation from chemo could be little scary too.

I felt like well know what. It doesn't last long. For somehow you go back to certain normalcy.

    Are you getting radiation?

Please stop by when you can.

Hello, All!  I am jumping on quick before putting the kiddies to bed and I cant wait to sleep sleep sleep!  My favorite hobby!

Disney is officially booked for October!  I am SO EXCITED!  This is my way of telling cancer to SUCK GOAT CHEESE (huh? Laughing) and I'm going to have some fun and make memories!

I think I'm going to start South Beach diet tomorrow because I'm SO FAT and I wanted to lose 20 lbs before my surgery...ha ha ha ha!  Never could get this dieting thing right, but I'll try.  (I'm the one that started the diet thread in October...guess how much I've lost since then...zilch!  But I did lose 17 pounds previously when dx'd probably from all the stress, so that's a plus, LOL!

Susan---Congratulations on your daughter getting the lead!!!!  What an amazing accomplishment!  Love it!

Valjean--Thank you so much for missing me Wink.  I feel so happy having my bc sistas--without bc ever coming back for any of us right guys!!!!!

Thereishope--My grade was 2, and my surgeon said if anyone tried to give me chemo to talk to him and he'd find me new doctors.  They couldnt do the onco test on me cuz they didnt have enough stuff to work with (?) I WANTED chemo, but alas...my life is in God's hands (best place to be!) and He said I would live, so I'm not worrying about it (today...heh heh)

Grakenmom--THanks for reminding me I'm not crazy!  I really cant wait till these pups are gone, but I am scared of being under for 12 hours.  I think lots of people are scared of that too, but everyone seems to do fine (pretty much).  I want to do everything to never get this cancer back (tho I know not a guarantee)...but at least I can try.

Hey btw..does anyone get sore from your lumpectomy 6 months after surgery?  I get sore now and didnt notice it before.  PLus my boobs tingle which is really annoying, and all I can think about that is, "oh no...Estrogen surges!!!!"  Maybe I am crazy? LOL!

Hey guys...let's all plan to live till we're at least 87 years old.  Are you guys in?  Can you imagine us all posting on this thread till then? LOLOLOL!

Cake, Count me in.  I'll mash your peas up for you, if you'll mash mine!!!

My breast that I had the lumpectomy has pain/soreness issues even now.  It also tingles now and again.  It was getting a bit better, but I had recon in November and I am starting all over.

Cakeisgreat -  I am glad you asked the question abou being sore from the lumpectomy 6 months out.  I am 3 months out and still sore at the sight which was sort of expected, but didn't expect it to still be so tender.   I still get a tingle type of shooting pain in that breast also and I was wondering if that was normal.. I was thinking it was like that because they took out 4.5 cm, but kind of nervous to ask how long this should all last.  So sorry I couldn't offer any advice back to you, but glad this subject came up so that I could hear what others think.   It also makes me wonder how long I will be sore after my dmx and TRAM.

TherelsHope and Brando1mar - Welcome to the group you will find so much information here and it is amazing how strong the women you will meet on this page are.

My soreness is specifically from the lumpectomy site up to my armpit, and there is a "rope" of scar tissue that follows this route.  It can be painful enough that running soap over it in the shower makes me cringe.

That is incredible that all these years later it is still painful. Do you think it is more from the node removal than the lumpectomy....or both? Sorry to read that..... ((((((((((((( )))))))))))))).

Pat, I am not sure what it is from.  The rope feeling scar tissue is the painful part, it also pulls when I reach my arm up.  Sheila, I have an incision scar that is close to 2" long.  The surgeon evidently missed the SN and had to take extras.

The avatar is so small it is hard to see.  I may end up changing it again soon.

    Hi ladies,

I, too have not been on this thread in a while but glad to get the updates on everyone! I want to say, I too am sore in the lumpectomy/partial mast breast... if you all have kept up with my posts, this has been one of the biggest and most troubling side effects I have had since diagnosis... with this said, I am so confident, after a billion tests, that it is scar tissue!... and breast lymphedema. I hope this helps you ladies with you anx about it!

Thinking of you Labby tomorrow for surgery... I will be sure to say a prayer tomorrow morning.

Cakeisgreat- you are hilarious with the diet, I feel the same way, all good intentions aside, I have only gained weight- URRGHH!

I got my Vitamin D Level results today. Its 38.

Meece , the picture the colors are very pretty but I cant see you very well.

Hi Nicole, Glad you stopped by.

What is partial mastectomy/lumpectomy. My BS took a big chunk out, and the right breast is dented and little smaller or emptier is a better way to describe it.

Partial mast is anything over 25% of the breast removed, I had 30%, this is my understanding anyways :) I know we are all a bit lopsided from the lumpectomy, but with the partial mastectomy, I am really lopsided! This is why I will be going to see a surgeon after my 2 year cancer free mark in July! I was going to go this month but my surgeon recommended I wait until two years clear just to be sure!... just around the corner, yeah.

So, Sheila, you may have had a partial mast

I dont think so Nicole...I was size 38DD I still am. The healthy breast is little bigger but i still wear the same size. My BS never mentioned anything about partial Mast.

I will look for a better picture.  i was just tired of the other one.

My breasts ended up one cup size different.  Now after two recon surgeries they are about the same size.
