One of my favorite memories of my dad was when he picked up the welcome mat outside the back door and picked a bug off the underside. He showed it to me and said, "hmmm, this protein shouldn't go to waste", turned a bit and tossed it down the hatch! I shrieked and he laughed and laughed! It wasn't until I was in my 30's and was retelling the story when I suddenly realized, as I recalled his motions, that he was only pretending!! He sure loved to make us laugh!

I love the way my family enjoyed Hawaii in 1969, and it was very

When we were kids we would make mud cookies and pies, put them on the neighbor's porch and ring the doorbell and hide behind bushes. She would come to the door and ooh and ahh over the 'presents'. (I'm sure she could see us and hear us giggling). She was a sweet, sweet lady!

One of my favorite memories was helping Dad feed the cattle. Our pastures had steep hills and draws in them, if he had one of us kids with him he would put the truck in creeper gear, climb on the bed and start breaking open hay bales and kicking it off. It was us kids responsibility to steer the truck, I was driving somewhat by age 6! Too short to even reach the pedals but on occassion we would have to give it a little gas, I was the only one out of 4 kids who never dumped Dad off the bed.
