I Come to the Garden...

In some of the other threads we have seen beautiful pictures of flowers, gardens and other beautiful scenes of God's creation.  I wanted to find a place that we can come, meditate and pray, and enjoy these amazing works of God.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Bless these women who travel into Your Garden to spend time with you.  You know their trials and the pain they endure.  May you give them comfort and peace.  Strengthen them when they are weak.  And bless thoose who come to support them.

It is in Your name we pray,

Amen

I Come to the Garden Alone

I come to the garden alone
While the dew is still on the roses
And the voice I hear falling on my ear
The Son of God discloses.

And He walks with me, and He talks with me,
And He tells me I am His own;
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
None other has ever known.

He speaks, and the sound of His voice,
Is so sweet the birds hush their singing,
And the melody that He gave to me
Within my heart is ringing.

And He walks with me, and He talks with me,
And He tells me I am His own;
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
None other has ever known.

I'd stay in the garden with Him
Though the night around me be falling,
But He bids me go; through the voice of woe
His voice to me is calling.

And He walks with me, and He talks with me,
And He tells me I am His own;
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
None other has ever known.

    O Lord my God, When I in awesome wonder,
    Consider all the worlds Thy Hands have made;
    I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,
    Thy power throughout the universe displayed.

    Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
    How great Thou art, How great Thou art.
    Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
    How great Thou art, How great Thou art!

    When through the woods, and forest glades I wander,
    And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees.
    When I look down, from lofty mountain grandeur
    And see the brook, and feel the gentle breeze.

    Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
    How great Thou art, How great Thou art.
    Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
    How great Thou art, How great Thou art!

    And when I think, that God, His Son not sparing;
    Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in;
    That on the Cross, my burden gladly bearing,
    He bled and died to take away my sin.

    Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
    How great Thou art, How great Thou art.
    Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
    How great Thou art, How great Thou art!

    When Christ shall come, with shout of acclamation,
    And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart.
    Then I shall bow, in humble adoration,
    And then proclaim: "My God, how great Thou art!"

    Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
    How great Thou art, How great Thou art.
    Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
    How great Thou art, How great Thou art!

    What a brilliant topic for a thread.

    Tonight I am just capable of soaking up the posts from each of you.

    Last summer, I took gazillions of pictures, attempting to learn about my camera -- of flowers & gardens. I promise to share when I get a grip.

    May I add one? My picture isn't a close up of flowers, but it is a picture I cherish daily: it's looking east from the back deck of my home. That view of potted flowers and majestic green hills makes my heart soar! Hope I didn't intrude on the thread...

    Debbie, thank you for your post.  It doesn't have to be close ups of flowers.  Just pictures that show our appreciation of God's hanidwork.

    I have been walking on air for the past day and a half.  My DS#2 is stationed at Kadena AB in Japan.  Since joing the USAF 4 1/2 years ago he has gone through some trials, not to mention those from our past.  He was on the phone wit me a month ago and admitted that he knew that God has a purpose for everything but can't understand what the reason for his circustances is.  I assured him that it was for our eternal life, but I was not able to remember the scripture which would comfort him about this.

    Anyway, I ran across a BC sister, who has just begun chemo, on another thread.  She lives in Okinowa and Her husband pastors a church there.  Friday evening I spoke with Ds and asked him if he would go to their church sometime, and give grace my greetings.  He said sure, and yesterday, he did!  Grace was unfortunately not there because she is not feeling up to par after her first chemo last Wednesday.  But throught this website, my son has a connection to a church halfway around the world! please join me in prayer that DS continues to attend church and gets fed with the Word.  this is one happy mom.

    Edited to make son's years in the military accurate and my age younger.

    cross Pictures, Images and Photos

    This one is for Jan:

    The Old Rugged Cross

    On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross,
    The emblem of suffering and shame;
    And I love that old cross where the dearest and best
    For a world of lost sinners was slain.

    So I'll cherish the old rugged cross,
    Till my trophies at last I lay down;
    I will cling to the old rugged cross,
    And exchange it some day for a crown.

    O that old rugged cross, so despised by the world,
    Has a wondrous attraction for me;
    For the dear Lamb of God left His glory above
    To bear it to dark Calvary.

    So I'll cherish the old rugged cross,
    Till my trophies at last I lay down;
    I will cling to the old rugged cross,
    And exchange it some day for a crown.

    In that old rugged cross, stained with blood so divine,
    A wondrous beauty I see,
    For 'twas on that old cross Jesus suffered and died,
    To pardon and sanctify me.

    So I'll cherish the old rugged cross,
    Till my trophies at last I lay down;
    I will cling to the old rugged cross,
    And exchange it some day for a crown.

    To the old rugged cross I will ever be true;
    Its shame and reproach gladly bear;
    Then He'll call me some day to my home far away,
    Where His glory forever I'll share.

    So I'll cherish the old rugged cross,
    Till my trophies at last I lay down;
    I will cling to the old rugged cross,
    And exchange it some day for a crown.

    And one more for Jan,

    JUST A CLOSER WALK WITH THEE

    Just a closer walk with Thee,
    Grant it, Jesus, is my plea,
    Daily walking close to Thee,
    Let it be, dear Lord, let it be.

    I am weak, but Thou art strong;
    Jesus, keep me from all wrong;
    I'll be satisfied as long
    As I walk, let me walk close to Thee.

    Through this world of toil and snares,
    If I falter, Lord, who cares?
    Who with me my burden shares?
    None but Thee, dear Lord, none but Thee.

    When my feeble life is o'er,
    Time for me will be no more;
    Guide me gently, safely o'er
    To Thy kingdom shore, to Thy shore.

    Thanks so much for this beautiful topic, it is so calming. I hope you don't mind me jumping in? Here is something that comforted me during my dx, surgery, and recovery.

    Psalm 91 (The Message)

    You who sit down in the High God's presence, spend the night in Shaddai's shadow,
       Say this: "God, you're my refuge.
          I trust in you and I'm safe!"
       That's right—he rescues you from hidden traps,
          shields you from deadly hazards.
       His huge outstretched arms protect you—
          under them you're perfectly safe;
          his arms fend off all harm.
       Fear nothing—not wild wolves in the night,
          not flying arrows in the day,
       Not disease that prowls through the darkness,
          not disaster that erupts at high noon.
       Even though others succumb all around,
          drop like flies right and left,
          no harm will even graze you.
       You'll stand untouched, watch it all from a distance,
          watch the wicked turn into corpses.
       Yes, because God your refuge,
          the High God your very own home,
       Evil can't get close to you,
          harm can't get through the door.
       He ordered his angels
          to guard you wherever you go.
       If you stumble, they'll catch you;
          their job is to keep you from falling.
       You'll walk unharmed among lions and snakes,
          and kick young lions and serpents from the path.

      "If you'll hold on to me for dear life," says God,
          "I'll get you out of any trouble.
       I'll give you the best of care
          if you'll only get to know and trust me.
       Call me and I'll answer, be at your side in bad times;
          I'll rescue you, then throw you a party.
       I'll give you a long life,
          give you a long drink of salvation!"

    I've been singing the verse

    "Oh God our help in ages past, our hope for years to come.

    Our shelter from the stormy blast, and our eternal home."

    Who can find the other verses?

    I'll post some great flowers/garden/creation pictures..... honest I promise.
