Jamie ~ congratulations on finishing Herceptin! Is Sunday when you go to NOLA?
-
Artemis~ I do leave today! I am up and it is almost 1am and I can't sleep. I figured it really isn't that big of a deal I will sleep tomorrow and some of Monday. I am ready I just need to get a few last minute things. Today we hooked up the web cams so I can see my kids and they can see me while I am gone
I think that is really going to help make things a little easier on both of us.
I am just thrilled that this option is available to me
Now please let this work.... I am still scared about the CT on Monday. I am such a sissy.....
-
Jaimie - good, good luck in NOLA!! It will work, believe it. Keep us updated as to how things are going. How long are you away? What day is Surgery? Just think how gorgeous you are going to look in your bikini this summer!
-
Sitting at the airport and I am doing okay so far. I didn't cry when leaving my babies but I almost did. Now I have the long ttrek thru the airports to get South
. Next stop Charlotte and then to NOLA. My poor son Larry was so confused as to why I had to leave to have surgery ... Poor baby he is only 4 so it was hard to explain.
-
Hope you arrived safely Jaimie. Good luck with the CT today - remember, you don't have to be brave, you just have to show up. Keep us updated.
-
sorry I don't stop in here much.. you can find me on Facebook (Mary Bryde Stevermer) or on the stage III thread.
say little nonimportant prayer for my fam. We are trying to buy this property.. a HUGE unfinished house (my husband is a carpenter/builder) on 2 acres for an unbelievably small amount of money. It's not a done deal, we're waiting on paper work and praying that no one buys it out from under us for cash. A trillion people have looked at it since we signed. shudder. If we do get it I'll be working super hard till August and will visit the computer rarely.
-
I am here and safe
I am glad I do not get motion sick very easily because it was a rough flight. The guy acrossed the isle from me had his hand on the overhead to brace himself. So far everyone has been VERY nice
Now my sister just needs to get here. Her flight was canceled this morning out of Baltimore.
Apple sending tons of prayers up for you to get this house. It sounds awesome!
-
Jaimie - whats on for today?? Thinking of you, hope it all goes well.
-
Hello everyone....just wanted to stop in and say hi. Been subbing alot, it's tiring going back to work, lol.
Jaimie: Saw your pic on FB, you look good....what day is your surgery?
Apple: I hope you get the house. Are you flipping it? that is a lot of work!
I'm not working today, Brendan has a half day of school (today and tomorrow), and no school on Thurs/Fri for end of semester. Poor kid is sick, but has mid-terms so in he goes.
Gotta go warm up the car, it's cold out again!
-
apple ~ praying for you to get the house.
Jamie ~ glad you arrived safely!
Judy ~ poor Brendan. I'm sorry he's having to take exams while he's sick; hope he feels better soon!
Hugs to all,
Artemis -
Jaimie~ So in NOLA already?? I spaced out on this... uggggh.
Thinking 'bout you all!! Teaching endocrinology this week so very busy. damn medical students.
-
Hey there Michele! Great to see you checking in. My daughter just loved your photos from Disney - she was amazed!! Hope you keep those Med students under your thumb!!
Jaimie - Hi to you if you are checking in. Hope all is going as planned.
Artemis - nice to hear from you as well!
Isn't this year so far shaping up to be better than last! I was shaving my head around this time last year......
-
Hi girls!
We are all so busy, busy, busy with our lives now....that is a good thing I suppose, lol.
We had gone bowling last weekend....I wasn't sure I should, since we have to be careful about lymphedema. So far my arm/hand is achy, but not swelling, so that's good. I had so much fun, and plan to go again, but will probably wait at least a month. Bowling is really quite brutal on your lymph node arm, not just the actual motion of bowling, but the added weight of the ball makes it a sport that is not advised for us....but what the heck, as Webbie said "if we're not going to live, we may as well have not survived"....
-
Hello Ladies
Thanks for all of your prayers and thoughrs. I made it thru surgery in 5 hours and I am doing great so far. Did I mention how great this place is ?? They got the IV in my hand by numbing it so they ciould poke around without me feeling it. So all of my stress was not for a good reason. I am supposed to be up in a little bit...I am ready
Judy~ I agree with what Webbie had to say
She is so smart
BTW~ I am not responsible for any typo's I am seeing double....lol...
-
Hey great to hear all went well! Are you sore? Are you still in the hospital? Wishing you a speedy recovery.
-
Judy ~ do you have a lymphedema sleeve? I agree that we should go on with our lives, but I wear a sleeve on my node arm (which is also my dominant arm) when I'm doing anything like playing Wii or working on my crochet.
Jamie ~ Hurrah!! So glad you're doing well! lol @ seeing double; sounds like you're on the good drugs!
Love you guys!
ArtemisETA: Kerry ~ You're right: this is a much better year! Today is my chemoversary, and it's so strange to think about that. I pray to God that none of us have to go down that road again!
-
Kerry I am only sore a little bit but it is easier IMO than the mastectomy. I had lower lumbar flap and it really is not that bad. Now I just need to get the hearburn to stop and then I will continue to feel better daily.
Artemis~ They are now changing my pain pills to oral med's so I think that later I will be a little more sore. It's okay though the end result is going to be worth the discomfort.
-
Hey gang!!!!
I haven't been on here in ages, but I wanted my furies to know I had a NEGATIVE test result for the BRCA 1 and 2 gene test. This is very good news!!!! I still have a steady chance of cancer reoccuring but it's less of a chance because I'm negative.
Jaimieh--HUGS girl!!!
Kerry, your hair looks marvelous!! I need to get my new hairdo up!!
Just popping in quickly!!! nite guys!!
-
Great news Bethie!
Jaimie - so where did they take the tissue from - Lower Lumbar - is that your back? Is that area sore? Sorry for all the ???'s, just thinking ahead in case I get recon!! Have you looked yet? Hope you are still all comfy, and healing well.
-
Kerry it is from my love handle area but the incision is low enough so I can wear a bikini
. They have me in a compression garmet that is from my boobies to my knees.
-
Bethie ~ Honey, that is TERRIFIC news!! I'm sooooooooooo happy for you!
-
Jaimie, they did surgery before you finished chemo? My doctor never even brought it up, I guess I assumed I'd have to wait. Last Herceptin for me in on 2/5 and then I finally get these DAMN tissue expanders OUT on 2/16....OH HAPPY DAY!!!!!!! lol
Kerry, have you still not made up your mind about recon?
Do any of you get tingling in your node arm?? I get it frequently, sometimes when I'm just stretching. It's odd.
I signed us up to do the southern Nevada Race for the Cure again. I think I'll like it even better this year since I'd be done with Chemo AND I'll have hair!! lol
-
Kristine - look at you!! Looking fabulous. as for recon, I am still on the fence actually - if I could "magically" get a new boob I would, but the idea of more Surgery, yuck. So, I am not motivated enough yet to do it, but maybe in a year ot two I will. My BS thinks my skin would hold up to implants, so maybe...??
I remember you doing that race last year! Yep, you will surely feel much better this year.
Jaimie - if you are checking in, hope you are doing well!
-
Kristine~ I have had a ton of surgery while on Herceptin but I did not have radiation.
Kerry~ I am doing pretty well, I am up moving about, eating and I should be out of the hospital within the next 2 days. Kerry do you belong to Timtam's site ?? If you do I am going to post pictures there of me within the next couple of days.
-
No, what is that? Great you are doing well!
-
Send a message to Timtam and ask her for permission for the reconstruction site. Once you get permission you can see all types of procedures and what they look like
-
Kerry~ I'd like *magical boobies* too! LOL! Jaimie~ DO you think she's give me permission? Also, are you going to be in NOLA Sat or SUn? Or, are you coming back? Sorry, I dropped the ball on seeing you. Things have been a mess here...
-
well.. they are supposed to be signing the contract this morning. mr apple had a ton things to check and provisions with the contract.
i'll let y'all know. It will be a ton of work for me, cause mr. apple has his office and business in our house and we own a big cluttered mess of junk.
hi to everyone.. I am a nervous wreck with this house and all... but pretty excited and just busy busy busy.. I have a ton of weddings coming up. that's good for the pocketbook.
-
Jaimie, can I see pictures too?? I'm a bit nervous about my surgery next month! I mean, it can hardly be worse than a double mastectomy right? lol I don't know why I'm getting so nervous.
Thanks Kerry! It's still WAY short but seems to be coming in thicker than it was before?? I dont' know, maybe that is just because it is still so short. And it's a lot darker and holy grey hair! Yuck. I'm definitely getting it colored if the summer sun doesn't lighten it up. Yeah, I don't know how motivated I'd be to have reconstruction if I did not have these Tissue Expanders put in. I am so beyond ready to get my REAL fake boobs!!!
Good luck apple!!! Crossing my fingers for you guys!
-
I am sure she would give you ladies access. Apple what do you do with Weddings ?? Michele I should be here this weekend
