Thank you to everyone here
I'm not sure if this is the best place to post this, but since this is my first post on these boards, I figured I'd take a chance on it.
I just wanted to say thank you to all the members here who offer their support and encouragement and war stories to others affected by breast cancer. When I first realized something was very very wrong with my breast in August 2008, this was one of the websites I came to for information. After my diagnosis and throughout treatment, I continued to check the boards hoping to find threads asking the same questions I was having. I cannot express how much this site helped me know that I was not alone in my experiences. I picked up so many helpful ideas from how to feel better during chemo to what to pack for my hospital stay. Books and articles only cover so much -- but hearing stories from so many survivors really helped me in the practical things.
I always meant to actually join this message board during treatment, but I just never did. I guess between chemo brain and lack of energy I just never got that far. Right now I am post-treatment and am about to enter the reconstruction phase. I still don't always feel full of pep and vigor, but with whatever energy I do have I wanted to start posting here. I can always use encouragement as I continue my own journey, plus I've reached that place where I really want to start giving back to others who are just starting the whole process.
So thank you again to the people behind this site, and to the members who have posted so much information from their own experiences. It really did make a huge difference during those very scary days of being bombarded with terms I had never heard of before and trying to figure out how to survive all the tests and treatments. You guys rock!

Payson,
Being able to help women like you--whose very shoes we've been in--is the reason why many of us stay around. Even after all these years.
I'm glad you got the help you needed.

Payson ~ Nice to see your post, and just wanted to welcome you, and also assure you that you will continue to feel better with time. Getting that reconstruction behind you will be a huge step towards a new normal. In the mean time, I think it's great that you've stopped lurking and decided to join the conversations. There are way too many newly diagnosed women joining every day who can benefit from your experiences. And be sure to check out the TripleNegative section, as well as the Reconstruction section for ongoing support yourself. Deanna

Payne, what an absolutely beautiful first post! As AnneW said, that's what keeps us hanging out--hopes that a remark, bit of info, etc. will be of help. That's what got us thru where the newbies and sophmores are and why we continue here.
Blessings to another hand to hold the others who need it.

Payne - I am glad that you decided to "chime in".....I also read a lot when I went through treatment, I even chime in a time or two. For a past couple of weeks I seem to be writing more on the different discussion boards.
Unfortunately this site exists.....but I am glad that it does. I don't know what I would have done without all the help/support I received from just reading the advice people have given.
